Seattle Times Bud Withers writes about projected profits from the Pac-12 Network

I'm all for it and all, but this is waaaaay too early to project, IMO. I'm sure guys were saying some pretty lofty things about the TLN. Look where that is right now.

I wonder if there is any reason for posting this kind of information...to entice UT to give up on the LHN and join the Pac-12? With the Pac-16, we could be getting $50 million per school from both the Pac-16 Network and TV deals.

The Pac-12 networks already have carriers. The LHN does not. HUGE Difference.

We dredge up eight-year-old history, and one of Seattle sports' most polarizing figures, only to make a point: That Neuheisel has been left for dead before, and somehow managed to slip out of his bonds and ride triumphantly into the sunset

if the LHN can't gain traction, the Pac-16 could be a reality.

You shut your dirty whore mouth!!!

No. Because ESPN owns the LHN, not the University of Texas. UT gets paid regardless of how successful ESPN is at getting carriers to include it in their package. Eventually ESPN will play hardbill, especially in the state of Texas to have their way and they'll begin to recoup their investment. Even if it is unsuccessful, they won't quit after barely invested for a year. It will take at least 5 years for them to decide to fold.

Now, long-term, anything can happen. But I would be willing to bet that the Pac-12 Presidents and Athletic Director's are more than happy to count their coins and vote down Texas after being stiffed the first time.
