make me sick as a member of the band at this university. Not the losing, the complete meltdown of fan support. We lost a ****ing game get over it. We lost to a team that defends their home turf better than almost anyone it happens. For the first time in 5 years I saw a game plan on both sides of the ball. The defense deserves a lot of praise, they did exactly what you should do to contain Moniz, but as any heisman hopeful would do he took control of the situation and did things that were unexpected. The band supports this team 100%, 100% of the time, true fans would do the same. Be disappointed sure but some of you seem to be turning your back on this team after one game. Grow the **** up and act your age. This year the team needs everyones support. They need buff faithful to be true fans and not fans when **** goes right. Ya we have had 5 years of losing, ya this season may not turn out so good, but they are still your team. They still played hard last night. They never gave up last night. If everyone was judged off of a single performance then most of us would be screwed. I know we have heard it for 5 years but we have to give it time. A new coach cannot come in and turn a 5-7 team into a championship contender in one offseason. He can change the mentality, he can change the culture, and he can change the plan. Other than the O-Line play last night I saw all three of those in the game. If you all cannot support your team 100%, 100% of the time then please I am begging you, give your tickets to someone else. Fairweather fans make me sick...

This. I was very disappointed in the game, but the level of vitriol from people I know and from this board towards the coaches was shocking. Hawaii is no Montana state. I desperately want wins too, because I'm sick of losing, but all I can ask is that this team improves and plays hard. The wins will come.

I would rather have won the game of course, but for the most part, loved the D play (other than the wild rushes without breaking down to contain Moniz, which was the game to me). Loved keeping him under 200 yards passing. Or at least it was until the last teo series. Still under 300. The breakdowns letting him run killed us. THe OL wore down as the game went on, and with us two scores behind they let loose on the rushes and we did not handle it. However, they were fighting until the end when he threw the pick six (that wasnt), which was NOT the tems of the lst few year. O'Neill did a stand out job, and the freshman kicker nailed the one kick he had. I saw improvement. I want the wins of course, but if he keeps building up the team to fight and finish and gets more talent in here....my Buffs will be back. Tonight was a stepping stone and I personally saw improvement. Now to see how we do against Cal with the home field advantage and antoher week of practice. Which will be alot about blockign and tackeling. I wouldnt want to be a player this week. this will be a very tough week I think for them.

Are you still drunk? Question is due to typos, not content.

As long as they play hard, who cares.
pretty sure this is sarcasm??

even if it isnt that is not the point. Care if they lose, be disappointed and be angry, but last night and this morning I have seen on this board and many others a complete meltdown in the fan support for this program. So much hate and venom being spewed at everyone from coaches to players. That is what I am not okay with. Back this team up when they need it, not just when they earn it.

This is par for the course. People, including myself, had really high hopes to see something change with the new coaching staff. We probably all had unrealistic expectations that discipline, attitude, and talent could be turned around in one offseason. I think it was a rude wake-up call for many of us to see such horrible play tonight. Dumb penalties, dumb plays, and getting pushed around were not what we were expecting. The board is an outlet for many of these frustrations. Most people will have calmed down by tomorrow.

We are an awesome football team. Keeping it within 17 is a big accomplishment.

A few years ago, it took me at least three days to get past a pathetic showing like last night's game. Now, I am good the next day. At this rate, I will lose all interest in even watching Buff football in the future. I need to drink whatever koolaid that Boulder has been sipping...

Serious questions: How are we supposed to act? What are we supposed to say? This venue is just fine for letting off some steam after a crappy loss, in my opinion. You should visit some other fan boards if you want to see venom. We're quite vanilla 'round these parts.

Fans are tired of this team being an absolute joke every year. Fans are tired of this team getting stomped every.single.game. You come off as clueless. Fans and alums and students who pay and paid tuition and for season tickets are entitled to have an opinion. Fan police are pathetic. We suck and have sucked for six years. People are going to be pissed about it.

I'll always be a Buff, but times like these make me wish I never had this irrational addiction

We all overreact after the game is over but fans are sick of talk, twittering about how good this team will be every year and right off the bat another ugly performance. Everyone will be pumped for the CAL game but fans are sick of losing.

5 straight years and counting.

No one here is burning their CU gear or turning in their buff card, no one here expects a championship in 2011. Expecting much better play with this staff and players is not asking too much.

I admit I had hopes of a post season game....even a lowly one. I knew it would be a tough job to get a new attitude in and execution. I saw no hopes of imporvement in the Volde-Hawk years and attributed it to the coaches. Now I get to see if it was the kids that he brought in or not. Sad that we had so many true freshmen kids who did a great job--but that empansises that the kids already here are just taking up schollies and are not very talented for the most part. Whcih means, gradual improvement over the next few years as we bring in enough talent to move up in the food chain of college football. Yes, I hoped for a miracle....but knew that this was the more likely scenario. So be it. I hope they stay fighting throughout the year..if they find a way to make it to a couple road wins and maybe a shot at a bowl game....I will be mroe than thrilled. If we get five wins, and look competitive in the loses, then I will still be assaged. 2 wins...and I will be wondering.

I still hope they can improve over then next few weeks to win a couple games here.

Get off your soapbox. This was a team that CU beat by 18 pts last year. Hawaii doesn't have a ton of talent and had 9 new starters on offense to boot. We all know this is a serious rebuilding job that will take time, but the truth is that this was a game that CU should not have lost by 17 points, and probably should have won. At some point this team has to grow a pair and find a way to win a road game, and it's perfectly fair for fans to be upset with what they saw last night. The play of the offensive line was disgraceful, and that's calling it for what it is. I'll be flying in from Virginia for the Cal game, and with a new week hopefully comes improvement and a victory. However, last night was an extremely poor performance. There are games this year where CU will be drastically out-matched, and a post like yours will have validity against those expecting unreasonable things. However, last night was not one of those games. Hawaii had no edge on CU in talent or experience. They were tougher, period.

And by the way, no one's a "fair weather fan" if they're still avidly cheering for the Buffs at this point. The last time CU had any "fair weather fans" was at the start of the '08 season. The bandwagon has long been empty after the post-WVU collapse.

There is no team in D-1 that's more different at home and on the road than Hawaii. Beating them in Boulder by 18 last year and losing to them by 17 in Hawaii isn't that unusual. Figure in altitude, figure in that they were in the second week of a two week road trip, figure out that they are a very tough home team, and it's more than a bit unfair to just say "we beat them last year, so we really suck if we didn't beat them this year"...

Good points. While we may still be low on talent we shouldn't be losing to Hawaii by 17 even if it is on the road.

Having said that, this is a good point too.

I don't see how Hawaii staying in Las Vegas for a week last year was a huge disadvantage for them. That gave them 2,000 ft in altitude and more rest than they would have otherwise received. I'm not simplifying it to "we beat them last year, so we really suck if we didn't beat them this year". Of course it isn't that simple. However, this was also a Hawaii with 9 new starters on offense. We had plenty of success running last year, and couldn't run for squat this year. No, it's not as simple as "we beat them last year" but it's concerning that the offensive line was so horrendous against a team they had success against last year. Road game or not, that shouldn't happen. Hawaii can be a difficult place to play, but at some point the 'road' excuse has to stop. Embree did everything he could to try and change that in game 1. I'm not altogether surprised that we lost, I've been expecting a 5-8 season. How we lost is a cause of concern

just support the team and dont freak out. i agree with shldr2shldr. i know everyone is mad, as fans thats fine, but dont just rag on the team because i guarentee if we win next week and play awesome everyone will be all happy and glad at the direction. win or lose we have to support the team. sure there are things we did bad last night. everyone knows that. but dont be dicks about it
