SMU or Houston to the Big12, keep PAC12 same & give 16 team MtWest + WAC BCS birth

Anything to fill Pac12 without texas is good with me. Those pricks will try to ruin another conference. Jerkwads

Yeah. Work out something like the pod system (I hate the word pod), remove one game from their schedule and set up one week of regional playoffs between the wac and mt west. It would be the only conference with a "playoff" and would bring them some much needed extra tv revenue...

if the Pac 12 stays the same I could care less what the others do.

sure. but that's not going to happen.

in superconference, the Big Ten and SEC have carved up the most population density areas that aren't the Big East.

OU and UT are in play....and the west needs them in terms of ad dollars and fannies on couches.

we'll see. I still think UT and OU will stay put. They'll have no power in the Pac 16, that's not how Texas likes to play

Well they'll have power. It will just be the same amount of power that Utah, Okie Lite or the sand aggies have. If they don't like that, then they can stay in the Little10. Although after TAMU, OU and Okie Lite leave, it may not be an AQ conference.

But in the long run, a 4x16 team superconference setup is where CFB is headed. It makes adding a 1+1 playoff system a no-brainer. If someone like Boise is left out of that setup, then too farkin' bad. Maybe they should have attempted to have a legitimate academic university so they could get into a real conference.

If we really have to expand, how about Hawaii and AFA as additions? After that the only options are BYU/Boise/Fresno/SDSU/CSU/UNLV and none of those make a whole lot of sense. Anything east of Boulder and you have to go too far for it to make sense other than it just being a money grab (yes I know that is what it is).

I don't understand why the Big12 can't pick up Houston/SMU/TCU to fix their problem. Hell, why not Rice and Louisiana Lafayette since they always seem to play the B12 south schools every year.

I like the idea of Clemson and A&M moving to the SEC. Put TCU, BYU, & SMU in the Big 12.
South Florida to the ACC
Notre Dame to the Big East and that conference becomes alot more legit.
Fill in the rest of the conferences and maybe bump up 1 school from Div1 AA if Notre Dame won't move to the big east and you have some pretty decent conferences. Big 12 stays pretty legit as long as TCU stays relevant. SMU has been decent lately and BYU is also a fringe top 25 program most years. Like I said ND would make the Big East a legit conference instead of what they are now (A joke that they get an auto bid.)

I this probably will change soon but I like the conferences having just 12 teams. It leads to more rivalries as you tend to play each other more often. When 16 team conferences start taking shape, it basically becomes two conferences that tend to play each other alot. No way to have a real good rivalry with a school on the other side of the conference as you may not play but maybe ever 3-4 years or so.

A PAC 16 is basically the old original PAC kicking the AZ schools out to play with us and a bunch of hicks in a barren wasteland. Or I guess I can say burnt at this point.

Okay, BCS bid to winner of the mid majors playoff or add 4 to the MWC/WAC giving them 10 each (SMU, N.Texas + 2 more...). There has to be a combination that works.

How does awarding an auto birth to the mid-major conferences have anything to do with this issue?

It's not like being an auto-bid conference ensures stability. Look at the Big 12 and Big East. What ensures stability is a conference where every member owns an equal share and the conference as a whole is able to negotiate a big media deal. There was more money in the Big 10 and Pac-12 than the Big 12 (and neither had one program setting itself up as Chairman of the Board), so NU and CU left for greener pastures. The ACC offered more money to Miami, VA Tech and Boston College than the Big East could, so they left. An auto-bid would change nothing. The only thing that will stabilize this is if we have consolidation to the 64 programs (4 x 16) that the tv stations want and create a separate association.

Why would ND want to join the Big East? I can't think of any at the moment.

I don't understand what adding SMU or Houston to the Big 12 has to do with an auto birth to the WAC.
