Embree's debut was better than Hawk or Barnett

Hawkins: Montana State
Barnett: Getting blown out by CSU when we were a Top 15 ranked team.

Give Jon and staff a chance.

All were losses. Only benefit of the doubt I can give Embree is: 1) game was on the road; 2) Jon's first ever game as head coach.

weren't you the one slitting your wrists in the chat room over embree and the lack of progress

NO... I've been very consistent on what my feelings are about the talent level on this team and how much of a struggle this year is going to be.

You forgot one.

3) This roster is far less talented than the other two. The OL talent is so bad that I'll be surprised if Asiata isn't starting before long as a true frosh. Depth is sorely lacking across the board.

Give the man a chance. This will take a couple more recruiting classes to fix.

The oline talent was worse when hawk took over, wasn't it?

Hawkins could barely run spring camp because we didn't have enough OL. It was kind of a joke.

Jimmy being rational and preaching patience?

Likely better than Mac's debut too (too lazy to confirm...).

i believe it was. didnt they have only 8 oline people for the first spring practice?

If I remember correctly they had 8 on scholly but 2 were injured so they only had 6 to practice plus a couple of walk-ons. On the other hand if I remember right I think 3 of them ended up on NFL rosters eventually so no depth but some talent. Included Polumbus, Tipton, Harrison, Daniels all of whom were pretty good O-linemen. Just zero depth.

I'm pretty confident Embree will do a better job at CU than Barney and Hawk combined. It's going to be tough, but he'll get us there.

That is too funny, and what exactly is the equation to determine that level of success? You don't think that together Hawk ruins Barney's accomplishments just a tad? What a retarded statement.

True, but Hawk did beat Oklahoma. It was a solid win and that's pretty much what I was referring to combing the two. It's not like either of them were blowing the doors off with accomplishments. Barney has 2001 and that's about it. I don't really put much stock in the B12 north wins where we got plowed out of the stadium by Texas and Oklahoma in the CCG.

As for the all important equation for success, I'd say we could start at winning the P12 south twice. Winning the P12 would also get us there. I'm sorry I can't put it in a mathematical formula for you, Dr. Mike.

lol

i'm tired of measuring progress in moral victories. i like embree and i hope he and the staff get it done, but they don't have a ton to work with, based upon what we saw a second or maybe even third tier program do to them.

At least we have a staff of known recruiters. I look forward to what they can do after a couple years of restocking the cupboard.

I guess I don't have the bar set as high as you. I'd give my left nut to get blown out in a CCG after what we have experienced for the last 5 years and likely at least a few more. I can't even see a bowl game in our foreseeable future with such an inept offense. Those days seem pretty damn good to me right now.

I agree with you in not buying moral victories, we need scoreboard victories. Unfortunately I don't think we have the talent to get a lot of those this year.

It is going to be critical this year to get some of those moral victories. This is a recruiting year and even in losing we can't look like a team that quits or a team that is just plain imcompetent. Recruits have to have a sense that things are going the right direction so for this year at least if we lose how we lose matters.

Rebuilding our program is going to require outperforming our talent level on occasion to get the ball rolling on the recruiting front.

:yeahthat: Gonna have to win some we shouldn't for this to turn out successful. Obviously that doesn't all have to be this season, but Saturday would be a nice start

While I'd prefer the days of Barney over the days of Hawk, I wouldn't exactly want to go back to them.

Who gives a sh*t. They lost, period. I'm supposed to be impressed because they looked better getting their asses kicked by a WAC team then past CU teams did?

At least it looked like they had fun out there, I guess that's what's really importaint. Whose bringing the orange slices for the team at halftime this saturday?

You don't necessarily need wins to recruit well. Washington was terrible and what Sarkisian did there was amazing. We need to shoot for that

Patience maybe not normal, but he was right about Hawk before most of us. It's the politics board where the irrationality comes into play :smile2:

It was quite lonely when I was driving the anti-Hawk bandwagon in Year 3. Once we lost to CSU at the beginning of year 4, people started to come around.
