The Ball Is In Oklahoma's Court

Don't think you will see that happen. The B12 is a dying conference. I think OU will, like all the rest, look for what is best for their university.

It is more likely that OU is in the PAC1? than they make that promise.

XII would seek a "minimum" of 3 additional schools....hmm?

this Corley guy has a nice closing line in his editorial about BU.

"
So my message to the Bears, Cyclones and Beebe is this: Stop dragging your heels on this — you’re only making yourselves look like whiney 5-year-olds who are mad they have to leave Disney World."

Leaving Disney world sounds a lot worse when you have to go back to Waco

What a complete **** show. Entertaining - but a total **** show, nonetheless.

1. A&M says they are leaving for the SEC
2. SEC says they don't want A&M, but maybe they do.
3. A&M says we're leaving, maybe for the SEC, maybe for somewhere else.
4. Beebe says if they go, Big 12 will just add Notre Dame.
5. ND says Beebe is delusional.
6. Beebe writes a letter to SEC stating A&M can go - assuring the SEC that he has full authorization from all member institutions
7. SEC says, "A&M, Come on down."
8. Beebe is a bumbling dumb****.
9. Baylor says, Beebe is a dumb**** and we'll sue regardless of what that dumb**** has promised.
10. KU, ISU, KSU join in with Baylor.
11. Now they say they will let A&M go if OU quits sleeping around.

WTF?

13. Profit!

Wtf?

Exactly. "Tell us you're staying, or we'll sue the ass off these Aggies over here!" doesn't really seem like the most effective threat you could level at OU...

hostage situation: if you don't give me the loot, i'm going to shoot this person you don't really like much and haven't known for very long. and have really weird guys dressed like milk men.

Looks like aggy wins either way. OU stays, SEC gets consent from BigXII schools to accept A&M. OU leaves, BigXII falls apart and A&M is free to join SEC.

Of course this maybe is just what OU has wanted all along, kind of like Texas last year. They don't actually want to leave their little fiefdom, they just want everybody to get in line to kneel and bob and then worship the ground they walk on.

I think the catch to that part is supposed to be that the Left Behind contingent from the Big XII is going to sue the $EC, which is going to make them withdraw the invite to Aggy, then Aggy will be just as ****ed as everybody else that used to be in the Big XII(-2) (-1) (-4?). By that point it might not be enough to keep the Big XII together if OU and OSU (and maybe Mizzou) manage to tunnel out, but at least they could spread the pain...

Personally, I doubt there's much they can do to keep anybody who really wants to get out...

So the left overs can still sue after OU/OSU leave? As in the conference is still intact? Allsome and poor aggies.

The suits wouldn't be filed by the Big XII. It would be the individual schools that would sue the $EC for damages caused to them by the destruction of the Big XII, which they would blame on the $EC for accepting Aggy in their conference. Or something like that...

Thanks for making that clear. This does make the situation more hilarious for the aggies, indeed you're right, they will be just as ****ed!

Does the PAC 12 want OU right now anyways?

Could they get sued by the little sisters of the Big 12-2 1/2 if the PAC comes calling? Doubt Scott wants any of that.

Think of the ramifications of the suit....

If A & M goes.... then the state schools and baylor will essentially be suing the 13/ 14 SEC schools.... and Mizzou and Texas might be 2 of those schools!

BRILLIANT!

Or OU uses this to get an even more unequal distribution of conference funds by saying (in private but listened to since they have no choice) you other schools can buy our and the Horns loyalty by signing off on us getting an even bigger chunk of the conference revenues. In addition we get the Sooner network. We get huge piles of money and almost guaranteed success on the field by nature of having a bunch of nuetered confence mates meaning that most years only two schools have a real chance of regular success (maybe they cut OSU and/or Mizzou in partially to keep some semblance of respectablility.) In return you guys get a reduced Big XII share instead of a full MWC or C-USA share. With Baylor, ISU, KSU especially but also with KU, MU, and Tech being left out in the cold is a real posibility that they may be willing to do almost anything to avoid.

I may be wrong, but wouldn't the same tactics be used to scare off the Pac-12 if they extended an offer to Boomer and his kid brother?BTW, this is going to make for awesome conference meetings in the future if they pull this off. LOL

Or OU uses this to get an even more unequal distribution of conference funds

I think this. They're just posturing to try to get more concessions from the rest of the conference.

I bet there are two ways they're going to try to do it. I believe the Sooner channel isn't ready yet and needs another year before it's operational (is that right?). If that's the case, they push for a more unequal revenue share slanted their way, or extra cash off the top.

They may even be ballsy enough to say TLN must come down (for a year) before they agree to stay to make it seem like they did something to "save" the conference. I hope that happens, just to see what kind of ****storm that generates.

They aren't holding each other hostage, they are holding the TV networks hostage. I guarantee OU has been negotiating with ESPN, Fox, or whoever about launching the Sooner Network throughout this past year or two and this is a big part of their negotiation. The SEC did the same thing to ESPN in order to prevent them from launching an SEC network and then cashed in big time.

Somebody will step forward with a Sooner-Cowboy network that will be split in OU's favor while "saving" the conference once again. Kansas, Missouri, K-State, Iowa State, Tech, and Baylor will be all smiles as they realize their home is safe once again, but scratch their heads about how they keep falling further behind in the money game.

If not, OU knows they can go to the Pac-12 with Okie State and cash in there; or accept the SEC's offer (without Okie State) and cash in there.

It is silly for all this lawsuit threats, IMO. Especially when, in the same breath the Big 12 members discuss adding 3 more schools. Where do they come from? How does that not damage another conference and set them up for lawsuits in return?

This is the time of year we should be talking football, not conference posturing, law suits and politics. I miss the old days. Money has eclipsed the value of rivalries and history. Too much bad blood in the Big 12 for the conference to survive. RIP. Lets play football.
