It's getting late for A&M to go to the SEC in 2012. They might have to wait an extra year...boy those Big 12 meetings won't be so dull for sure. :lol:

This would give the SEC more time to find that 14th team despite the SEC saying they would be fine with 13 for the time being.

This is also a chance for college presidents and athletic directors to come to their senses.

If this is the case, at worst we have two full Pac-12 seasons instead of this upcoming season and maybe for many years.

A pause in realignment would be a very good thing. Teams and conferences are moving too fast given the do or die nature many are facing. I think that the powers that be need to sit down and hash out if superconferences are really any good and if so how to make them as viable as possible, or if not to come to an agreement that things are good as they are.

I think the Big 10 and Pac 12 would be fine with staying at 12 even with the SEC at 13/14 teams as long as the Big 12 stays intact. Especially because then they can watch how that model would work over time.

What I really would like is for the SEC to say to Aggy: "Get your **** together and then we'll talk", but that's not going to happen. What is likely going to happen, in the unlikely event that the Chipster is right, is that the 3 major conferences and the 3 soon-to-be-carved up conferences will get together and figure out how to manage everyone's egos and come up with the best 4 mega-conference deal possible - which inevitably means Bevo in the Pac-16.

Hopefully this would mean pod scheduling and 2-tier conference championships for everyone involved, but I think that will be well down on the list of priorities. What a HUGE benefit to this process would be, however, is that a planned exit from the NCAA could be coordinated, conference additions and subtractions could be resolved in a planned fashion so as to benefit all involved instead of huge land grab, and the idea of giant, NFL-style TV deal could be discussed.
