Prognosis for Rest of the Year?

I missed the game, but will watch the recording later. How do you guys see the season playing out...do we go in the tank and win 1-2 games, or is a 4+ win season possible?

absent a bunch more injuries, i would predict somewhere between 3-5 wins.

I'd say five is still doable. Cal has comparable talent to a number of the teams that we will face this year, so if we can get out of our own way, we might pull off a few W's.

I originally said 5 but I was counting at least 1 win in these first 2, so at this point I'd say we're looking at 4 wins max.

I'm thinking 4 at this point - the first of which better be an epic ass kicking next week. If this team improves as much the rest of the season as they did from week 1 to week 2, they will won a few games. But they've left two wins on the field that they'll have to have once Embree really has this team "back"....

4-6 is more than possible if they keep improving game to game. This team had a chance to go into the tank today after last week's debacle coming in against a team that thumped them last year. They're still rough around the edges, too damn many penalties, but they cleaned up a lot of crap from last week and stood toe-to-toe with a faster and arguably more talented team. There are no moral victories, but a lot of positives can be taken from this game. They play a whole game like they did in the second half, and it's not even close to going to OT. The coaching staff is obviously learning and adapting, and improving. That said, remains to be seen if this is still a Jekyll and Hyde team depending on if they're playing at home or on the road.

This team was never going to a BCS bowl this year anyway, take these experiences, use them and let's make some noise in the conference. I think they'll hold their own in the home slate, and hopefully, surprise a team or two on the road.

With the exception of TattooU, Oregon and Stanford, the way teams are looking so far, there are 8 winnable games left on the schedule. I think we get at least 4. CSU, WSU, UA and UCLA. USC is home, so I give us an outside shot. ASU is solid, but Greg Brown has always had a thing with Mike Leach's offense. Outside shot at Utah (last game after a year of playing real teams in conference play will test their depth), and I'd call UW a toss-up.

i was hoping for 2-2 OOC. posted it many times. 1-3 means we won't play in a bowl game. i think we get better as the year goes along. if we win 4 or 5 it's all gravy moving forward. i put 5.5 as the o/u, but i thought we'd win one of UH or Cal. not that far off. so, now it's 4.5. UCLA, U of A, WSU are all looking beatable. we beat CSU....

not real happy about today, but we had a chance to win against a team that has been in the middle of the pack in our new league....they are on the downslide of the Tedford era but hey.

I think we will win 2. CSU better be a win. I don't know who else I feel confident we can beat but I think we will get at least one more win out of the rest of our schedule

We will be lucky to get more than 3 wins.

edit; CSU only sure win.

Probably four, five if we can steal one on the road (UCLA is probably our best shot).

3 wins maybe at this point. Today was a crucial game and like the last 5 years, we come up short.

Wins over CSU, WSU, UCLA, and Arizona. Possible wins if we keep improving and eliminate retarded penalties: UW and ASU. Hard to see any other possible wins. Maybe Utah if they're beat to hell by the end of the year. Probably a 4 or 5 win team this year.

Tough to figure at this point
This team could win four or we could lose all 13 we play.

There is some decent coaching going on, we have some talent but what is in these kids heads as far as a winners mentality is anybodies guess right now.

I think people may be underestimating WSU this year. I'm just sayin'...I'm not so sure about counting that as a win right now.

I do wish we played OSU this year though. They look awful.

I had predicted 5-8 before the season, at this point 4-9 seems most likely. It goes without saying that we have to beat CSU and Wazzu and get to 2-3 or else we're looking at a 2-11ish situation which this team does not deserve

We will beat CSU, Zona, WSU, UCLA, and one of these three (Utah, UW, USC)

5-8

Sad to say that this is the most optimistic view.....can we fast forward to year 3 or 4 of Jon's tenure? This is ****ing brutal.

We'd be a year ahead if we had fired coach dingleberry a year earlier...

Don't get me started. I was the most outspoken person on this board about Danny dooshface, and why he was retained another year. And I said very clearly that this would be the result. It is what it is.

I just don't get comparing this team to the past 5 years as if it's just a continuation of the same ol' *@&*. I understand wanting to win. But I think it was bloblaw or rugged who a while ago - before the season - started a thread that said rebuilding would be a journey. Talent. Depth. CU has a ways to go. Penalties and self-inflicted damage have been a big part of starting 0-2. Like others have said, this team made serious improvement from last week to this. As long they're pushing it forward, I'm good with that.

Another thing: 100% confident Buffs will be on hand next week. No way they aren't ready for that one.

Today isn't really a loss we can write off and say "oh, they just didn't have the talent or depth - valiant effort though!". It's fair to compare this game to the last few years because it's the same problem - this team doesn't know how to win. This is a game that should have been won. They played better, but the 'real' proof of improvement this week would have been stepping up and putting this game away while up 27-23 or in OT.

We should take care of CSU, but should we build a decent lead, our lack of a running game is going to give them chances to get back in it. It's nice that Hansen was able to put up the yards he did today, but our lack of a running game is truly frightening. I didn't think we'd be the "smash mouth" team that some thought, just because our OL has been so horrendous for years, but for it to be as ineffective as it has been is truly surprising. Is Tony Jones really this bad? I thought everyone was raving about him in fall camp
