You have to read Scott's words carefully to understand that the fundamentals of possible expansion have not changed.

The Pac-12 does not have to be proactive here, and Scott has publicly challenged the term "predatory." The key words are "if all conferences that are 12 [teams] stay at 12."

The SEC has already conditionally agreed to accept Texas A&M. That would be team No. 13.

"If that happened," Scott acknowledged, "we're in a different world."

The SEC at 13 would likely trigger an arms race to 16.

Why?

Nobody can manage to answer that.

Why?

Nobody can manage to answer that.

Because, secretly the BCS will be dead. The major conference presidents and commissioners have decided that a 4 team playoff with a plus-one format will be the future of college football.

They do not want any chance of "non-BCS" teams crashing the party. The only way to accomplish this is if there is rules for champions of the four major conferences to play in those bowl games. The Rose Bowl (PAC-12 and Big Ten) has already said as much. The SEC controls the Sugar Bowl and that will be the other bowl. The ACC/Big East leftovers will be allowed to be the 4th conference that plays the SEC in that semifinal bowl game.

The money from the bowl games will be huge but only shared by those parties directly involved because it will be "exhibition games" not a playoff or a BCS style selection show with computer rankings and human polls affecting it.

But the only way to get there is to eliminate the Big 12 and Big East as conferences.

This does not answer the question. You can do all of what you're talking about above with a Pac 12, not a Pac 16.

I just hope those numbnuts in the Big XX get their **** together this week and just make a damn decision because this is getting really old. The college football weekend was so refreshing without talk of expansion.

Isn't Oklahoma supposed to announce to the world their intentions this week?
