Kirk Bohls: "Almost certain Texas is moving West"

Whorn fans are saying Larry Scott has agreed to a minimum pay out to Texas that would at least equal what they would get from the LHN, plus the partenship with Comcast solves their distribution problems, and that the new PAC 16 network would be highly localized, meaning Texas area would be Bevo-centirc in all programming.

All speculation, but seems like a real possibility given the fact that the new TV contract under a PAC 16 would be enormous. Virtually all major football west of the Mississipi River would be in the PAC 16 footprint under the OU, OSU, Texas, TTech scenario.

After all the bluster about equal revenue sharing, I can't imagine the commish doing this - if there was anything that screamed special treatment, it's this horse**** plan.

Also, Jens can you post a link to Kirk Bohls' comment? Went to the Statesman and there's nothing there.

This better not be a chilling development for Buff fans in Texas. I'm counting on having access to the Rocky Mountain regional Pac network on the sports down here.

Definitely. However, I was wondering how the regional channels would work even before this development with Texas. Will all of the PAC regional networks be available throughout the country, or will the networks be regionalized?

We guaranteed USC and UCLA minimums. There's precedent. It's on Larry Scott to make sure that we blow out that minimum so that people forget about it just like they did the USC and UCLA commitments.

Yup, that's the exact argument being made. Also, if you had the above four teams plus A&M getting out, you would be close to having the votes to dissolve the conference. Bye bye Baylor lawsuit.

With Missouri certainly on the Aggy heels out the door, with KU and KSU desperate to leave as well.

I think that the NCAA has a rule that doesn't recognize a conference if it loses 50% of its membership in a single year. I'm certain the TV contracts have some verbage that nullifies them at that point as well.

Dan Beebe might be hoping the WAC is looking for a new commish soon.

OK, sure - but USC and UCLA were already conference members. These ****s are coming over with their hat in hand begging someone to Bevo have a place to call home to take a ****.

There's absoultely NO REASON why our great commissioner needs to guarantee ANYTHING to these ****heads that even sniffs of special treatment. If anything, UTerus' acceptance should be based on that program getting ****ed in the ass financially every year i.e. they PAY every year to remain in the conference as their "tithe" for being saved by the PAC) and Powers/Dodds/Brown rotate as Bevo's corral boys on a daily basis.

I cannot believe people are so blind to what bringing that parasite into the PAC means. Scott has already told them to **** themselves once - he needs to do it again or absolutely ensure that UT is everyone's bitch in the conference.

Bad news for the Pac 12. Once Larry Scott leaves, LHN University will continue to bully the other schools around. And when the next consolidation happens, power will shift south and Oregon State and Wazzou are gone. SWC 3.0, Big12 2.0. LHN U are conference killers and they will kill the Pac eventually.

Meh...wake me up when something is official. All of these rumors are just a few more in the thousands we have seen in the last month.

Why on earth would we guarantee UT anything? They sell out a 100,000 + stadium every week. They have donors that will make up any potential shortfall. Screw them. I hate this. I know that's a big shocker to most of you.

Sounds like more Texas propaganda. The "news" that comes out of Texas doesn't ever have to resemble the truth, only serve the purposes of the Horns. I don't think Texas getting into the PAC is the slam dunk that some people think it is. Colorado and Utah don't want to be stuck with them, the Zona schools don't want to be going to Texas instead of the Pacific coast and I'm not certain that the Okies want them around.

I think the ACC is making a play to be superconference #4. They need Texas for credibility and Texas knows this. All of this other stuff about Texas to the PAC, even Texas to the Big 10 is a smoke screen in Texas making sure that they get the seat at the head of the table in the ACC. When it all washes out Texas will be a part of the ACC but will have a conference media deal that pays unequal shares based on TV appearances, the conference championship games and tournaments will be dispraportionately held in Texas, and Texas will have the LHN without sharing any of that revenue and guaranteed a minimum number of high profile games exclusive to it.

Agree, I wonder what the other school presidents think of this or can Scott act in his own interests and hope the PAC comes along.

Kirk Bohls was the same douche that said it was a certainty that Texas was going to the ACC, right? Every week some Texas dolt dishes out the latest propaganda.

Texas is not coming to the Pac unless they agree to equal revenue sharing and giving up the Longhorn network. They will never do this. Therefore, they are not coming to the Pac. They would have to give up much less to keep the big 12 together, so why would they give up more? And their fan base isn't exactly thrilled about the possibility of coming west either.

When a noob shops your bid, that blows. When a noob shops your bid and then after making all the rounds still comes back hat in hand and says, "Is your bid still good?", then you know you have him and you have the ability, nay the right, to rip out his eyes before saying, "Yes, of course!". While Larry's insistence on LHN being altered to fit the P13/14/16 regional network model is non-negotiable, I'm guessing that when Texass first approached us, Larry offered Texass help in cashing out ESPN's ownership interest in LHN. Now that benefit should be eliminated. It should be up to Texass to cash out ESPN and deal with all the consequences of running around asking everyone up to and including the Big East "Can I keep LHN?".

And if Texass doesn't like it, they can sit by themselves and stroke their LHN that no major provider in Texas carries.

Kirk Bohls was regarded as a 'respected journalist' before all of this, right?

Strange that he would throw that all away just to sit next to the Chipster on DeLoss's lap.

I am at the point where I think it´s better to ignore every story about realignment which originates in Texas.
