And hear this gal call in and complain about the KOA announcers being biased towards CU. She was appalled that they were so much more excited about CU than CSU and thought because they were in the same state, the announcers shouldn't have been so biased.

OH my gawd lady, KOA is the buffs official station not CSU's. CSU has their own too, if you don't like ours then switch to the voice of the rams!:wow:

Did she also point out that Ralphie had a "Beat CSU" blanket on her? Why is Ralphie so biased?

Yes, and she was still offended. She thought there shouldn't be any excuse for any bias on any colorado radio station doing a game for two colorado teams.

Soooo...no bias for the voice of the Buffaloes? What happens when, say, Michigan plays Michigan State (or Eastern Michigan for that matter); do the Michigan announcers suddenly pretend that they're not the "Voice of Big Blue"?

Sometimes it's okay to make fun of stupid people.

Exactly.

He did nothing of the sort. Klatt slobbered Thomas's knob so much and so often Petey will be walking funny for a week.

Klatt was so busy piling on the praise for the lambs and their program just to prove to everyone he was not a CU homer it ended up being pathetic.

I generally like Mark Johnson's radio call and sometimes listen to him in stadium too. But....
1. At the Cal game, there were some confusing ref moments and Johnson seemed pretty clueless. I could tell what was going on by just watching the refs. I suppose he was more worried about the commercial break and reading the right commercial that he missed the MOST important part of his job.

2. Does he still refer to the shotgun snap height (ie "chest high snap). It shouldnt bother me, but it indeed drives me nuts. Don't tell me where the snap is UNLESS it is a bad one, then go ahead and refer to the location. He doesn't say "midriff high handoff" or "handoff facing east, handoff facing west".

You have a talent, as I stood clueless on a couple of those penalties. It was especially difficult since the official was not miked.

I heard the post-game (lack of) call-on show. I want to assume they don't get many callers. First off, the host, rambles ON and ON continually repeating himself and stating the obvious. That was boring. After quite a while, he took some calls, and about half the callers actually had a meaningful point. And yes, the lady claiming 850 radio bias was ridiculous.

btbuff...I didn't know the exact call being made, but there were times that Johnson didn't even know the officials were intervening after a play when to those watching it was pretty obvious. One time they came back from commercial and exlaimed that they had no idea what had just happened but we in the stands knew most of what happened except maybe for the exact nature of the penalty.

**** Klatt I vote for UBL to do the color

Yeah, that would be wonderful.

Play-by-Play Guy: "CU ball. 1st and 10 from their own 35 when this time out's over. What should we look for here, UtterBuffLove?"

UBL: "I think we might see the traditional punting style. But there's always the chance of the rugby punt. Have I mentioned that Darragh can punt with either foot? He's so awesome."

PBP: "Uhhh.... ok. But we've got a first down coming up here. What should our listeners expect?"

UBL: "As I was saying, it depends on whether it's going to be a traditional or rugby style punt. With the traditional, I'd expect Darragh to land it against the sideline at the 1 yard line after a 7 second hang time. With the rugby, he'll bounce it out of bounds at the 1 without the hang time. Could be either sideline, though. Did I mention that Darragh can do this with either foot?"

PBP: "I think we covered that, UBL. Interesting stuff. What play do you expect Bieniemy to call here?"

UBL: "Ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, ole!!!!!!"

It was pretty funny until the "ole" chant, and then it was really funny.

I'm out of rep...somebody hit Nik for me.

Lol midriff high handoff. There is a thread (or threads) somewhere devoted to Mark Johnson pet peeves. I can generally block out his idiosyncratic descriptions, but it is the ALL CAPS yelling on a 3 yard curl on 3rd and 9 that drives me bonkers. That, and failing to list down and distance every play (or even most). I could go on.

UBL: I think you will see Hansen lining up in traditional off tackle run and then have Darragh go in motion to a wild cat and drop punt. "

fify

To his credit, I thought Klatt tried to be impartial while doing the color.

Like Chris Fowler, Klatt bends over backwards to be neutral and even a bit slanted against CU, so as not to be thought a "homer."

I find that more disingenuous than actually favoring the Buffs. Heck, Joel, you're an alum, show some pride when warranted!
