Welcome to the PAC 12

Should be an interesting game this weekend.

I am not lying and most Cougs will say the same that we would feel one heck of a lot more confident if Jeff Tuel was our starting QB this weekend. The loss of his arm strength and ability to run just killed us in the SDSU game, ugh. The back up turned it over 4 times, 2 picks and 2 fumbles all deep in SDSU territory, however he still tossed for 361 yards, so at least we have that going for us.

Still sick about that loss. We were up 24-14 and had the dagger out ready to put it away as they had not stopped us all day long, so what do we do? Call an all out block and rough the punter:bang:. It all fell apart after that with 3 turnovers in about 8 min.

We feel your pain as the Hawkins situation feels a ton like when Wulff arrived. Not alot of deep talent, lots of guys out of shape and it lead to tons of penalties and mental mistakes in every aspect of the game. We spent 3 years learning how to start games as well as not until the Oregon State game last year did the kids come out on fire and they have been able to do that since. Even in the loss agaist SDSU the first play went for an 80 yard passing TD.

As far as WSU, we are wayyyyyyyyyyy better than the last 3 seasons, but still very, very, very young. That is how down it was here. We are not world beaters yet, but have the kids that can play at the PAC 12 level now, so that is a good feeling.

The defense will only play 3 seniors in its two deep. The offense has 4 SR lineman, but the starting center did not play last week due to an ankle injury. Hoping he is back after the bye week as the back up got worked pretty good. WSU strength are their skill kids. Wulff and staff have done an amazing job upgrading them with size and speed. The reciever recieving core, it is very good and very deep. They will play 9 kids with the majority of them being 6' 2' - 6' 4". The sophmore Wilson is the real deal, his 2010 highlights are all the explnation anyone needs.

I have no doubt this kid will be playing on Sundays, he that talented.

The running backs are small like your guy, 171, 175, 199, but one at 223. Glavin is a copy of Speedy, as you call him. He is like hitting a gnat and is tough to see behind 6' 6" lineman.

Going to be a good game this weekend. Do not have read on the final im this one at all. If WSU plays like they did against UNLV(even though their are flat terrible) WSU will be tough to beat. I don't care how bad a team is, because they could have dropped 120 on them. If WSU does not turn it over they have good chance to win. Agains SDSU it just felt like when it got tough the kids did not respond well at all and hopefully these young kids took that as a learing experience. I wish Tuel could get the magical water blessed by a Tibetan Monk from Bobby and play on Saturday. He is a great QB and a game changer with his big arm and ability to run.

Any other questions let them fly.

Nice first post. So, your team starts fast eh? Well, that plays right into our strength of starting slow.

I feel like I'm missing something. Weird.

This kind of game will be an interesting tell. If WSU wins you can point to Wulff having things in the right direction and Embree facing some real difficulty rebuilding the program. If Wulff loses WSU is probably thinking we might need to be searching for a new coach.

So Tuel is a definite no go? Honestly, the guy scares m because we are young at DB and rely a lot on blitzing. A mobile cannon armed QB can kill you when you do that.

Correct me of I am wrong but WSU is spread oriented team, no? CU is a pro style attack not terribly different from Stanford, except Stanford does a better than CU right now.

I look for a good game. No offense, but after your team we have an uphill battle to squeak out a W in the P12, we're just short-handed at too many spots, but getting better, I hope. Since we get you guys at home, I'm hoping for a W, but then again, last time you guys came to Folsom, you laid a whooping on us.

Are coming out for the game? If so, check out Sackygate, I might even get there depending on the time my boy's FB game ends. We're excited to be in the P12.

As of last night Tuel was still just throwing as he has done for the past week or so. We would be 3-0 if we had him, I know we would. He is that godd in the zone read offense. He is not a burner, but fast enough to make you stay home. SDSU just came after our new center with blitzes in 4th quarter and Lobestahl is not mobile enough to keep them honest. I am fairly sure he will play against UCLA in two weeks however.

Yep WSU is full spread team and will run the hurry up no huddle. 4 and 5 wide most of the time, with some TE and FB mixed in.

Defense is very young, but very very fast. We were so slow when Wulff showed up our guys could have not caught players without motorcycles. Still questoinable against the run. We got absolutely no pass rush against SDSU which I still cannot figure out.

Here are the starters
DE JR 6 4 258
DT RS Frosh 6 1 292
DT RS Junior 6 3 287
DE RS Junior 6 5 260

They will play 10 to 11 defensive lineman however and only 1 is a senior.

OLB SR 6 1 231(wow fast)
MLB So 6 2 227(google CJ Mizell and wonder see how we got him, stud. #4 LB in country in 2009 and did not get into Florida State)
OLB So 6 4 236

The 3 LB never come out of the game, they are our best group on the defense by far.

CB so 5 9 175
FS so 6 1 190
SS jr 6 0 199
CB so 5 11 195

They will play about 6-7 kids in the secondary as well.

That 2003 team was so good, but then the bottom dropped out in 2 years and we are still digging out.

Wish I could go, but have used my passes for a while with the first 3 games.

We know about holes everywhere, it just sucks. It has taken 4 recruiting classes to get us to were we are now.

All I know about WSU is that I wish we had their OOC schedule this year.

We are so happy right now.

Here our were our first games lately

2006 Auburn
2007 Wisconsin
2008 Oklahoma State
2009 Standford(was so great when they stunk)
2010 Oklahoma State

Welcome, this will be a battle of two bad teams. Colorado plays much better at home however. At least it looks like you guys might be better than Oregon state.

who were the other games against? No offense, but that doesn't really mean much to CU fans...

We consistently play top 10 most difficult schedules. Here are our notable OOC games the last 6 years..

2011 (Cal, Ohio State, Hawaii (in Hawaii))
2010 (Georgia, Cal, Hawaii)
2009 (West Virginia)
2008 (West Virginia, Florida St.)
2007 (Arizona St., Florida St.)
2006 (Arizona St., Georgia)

That doesn't include the annual rivalry game against CSU (not a big time program), but it is their superbowl every year and they try to play us tough.

I think this is going to be a low scoring affair. Coug, how is your quarterback at scrambling when the protection breaks down? If he's good, we could be screwed.

First Cal and now Wash St. with actual intelligent posters coming here and discussing football in a realistic manner.

I could get used to this PAC 12 stuff.

We have already had more intelligent opponent posters in the past few weeks than we had in some years in the Big XII.

I can't remeber, need to look.

As bad as our program has been over the last 3 years and with a major rebuilding project going on it would have been nice for a few sisters of the poor to find their way to WSU for openers, but we opened on the road at all those schools.

Last year we took 70 kids to Stillwater and 35 had never even suited up for a college football game. That that is were the program was at a year ago, two years removed from a coaching change. We had nothing in pipeline and had to feed the Freshman, True and RS to the wolves. By the Stanford game last year we were playing ok football. The last 3 we lost to Cal by 6, beat OSU silly and lost to UW with 44 seconds on the clock. But that was with the teams leader Tuel running the show. I still think there is a burial ground ala Poltergiest under our football field. Nothing, I mean not has gone right for us in about 7 years. We finally have a solid QB and guys everywhere to get the ball and he wakes up on Sept 3 gameday with a stomach flu, does not start and comes in for 3 plays and breaks his collarbone.

OUCH!!!!!!!

WSU has a verbal from a kid here in Longmont. Kid is tearing it up this year, too. Apodaca is his name. Skinny kid, but I guess he can really throw the ball.

He can't that is why we lost to SDSU. The blitzed ever play starting in the 4th quarter as they knew he could not run.

Here is what we gave up when Tuel broke his collarbone.

Still just want to puke.
Holy ****, did I see a beer in that guys hand in the stadium? CAN YOU DRINK AT YOUR GAMES? This is very important. He's got an accurate, if floaty, long ball. With that release, I can see why he throws lots of picks. Eh. Looks like the kinda QB we specialize in making unstoppable.

Wish he was playing. His feet kept us in games last season and he throws as beatiful a long ball as I have seen in a while. We had everyone back less on offense less our center and he got hurt against Idaho Freking State when he was sick.

No beer in stadium, unless you pay 65 bucks for the tents in the endzone. However like CU, Cougs loooooooove to drink so there is plenty of booze in the Stadium and any given time. Don't give anyone a beer this weekend at your tailgate as we will never leave.

When we went to Auburn a guy came back our board after the game and just said you drank me out of house and home.

If this game turns into a field goal contest, I like our chances. Otherwise it may go to quadruple overtime just to see who wins?

Wait until UW shows up, they will blow your mind. Oklahoma/Texas west beware.

It is on. Welcome to altitude. It is our hidden weapon.

I am not worried to much about the students if they come, as WSU about 3000ft in altitude and the school is on a bunch of hills so they should be in pretty good shape. The Alums however I really worry about.

You will be able to tell a WSU senior girl if they are there by the size of their calves. No joke as WSU is a mother to deal with if you are not in shape. I was there for the UNLV game and was staying in town below campus. My achilies is still sore from walking the hill for 3 days.
