Hey All!

I am going to be on again with Tony D tonight around 8:30pm on 102.3 The Ticket. You can tune in, or stream it here: www.denversportsstation.com

I actually have the topic's ahead of time tonight, and I want to survey everyone's thoughts. Tony wants some analysis about

WSU v CU - Overall Analysis
The running game - what's going on?
WSU passing offense - Are we in trouble?

What say all of you?

I think the running game analysis is really skewed right now. I would like to see how we do with a lead early in the game. We are playing catch up all of the time so we haven't been able to estabilish it yet.

It's been interesting that we've consistently tried to set up the run with the pass early in games -- with little to no success. I feel like when we do run, it's usually pretty good (I'll take 4 yards on first down every day, and twice on Saturdays). But by the time we get it going we're usually down 10-17 and can't stay with it. Maybe having the same 5 OL two weeks in a row this week might help to establish a run game early.

1)Hard to tell, but I bet WSU wins by about 10. Buffs have not proven to me that they can do anything this season and if they get down early (which seems to be a trend), they could get discouraged and the home crowd will not be pleased.
2)Our line sucks at run blocking and we aren't really particularly threatening throwing the ball. We've overrated Hansen and Richardson.
3)Of course we are. Look at the moves the coaching staff has made on D.

Running game analysis: Playing 2d and 3d string tackles isn't good. Against OSU, I believe we averaged 5.0/carry with bahktiari back. Our problem was 1) playcalling early and 2) field position all game.

I think you see a much improved running game this week. OSU was talking about how beat up they felt after our game. Also, hopefully EB stops being cute and realize he has his Oline back.

Well that's cheery.

My biggest complaint so far this year is the first couple of series every week we pass the ball every down. I thought we were going to be a running team, and I sure as **** wish that we would at least try it before going to the aerial attack.

Yup. I was pissed at EB on that first series. Ugh.

I think EB is over thinking it, but with some good reason. He knows Embree has labeled us a "running team" or at least that we'd get back to running the ball. He also knows that against most teams on our schedule, we don't have the talent to just line it up and dare them to stop us when they know what's coming. Thus, he's tried to psyche out the D by passing early to set up the run later. Problem is, we apparently don't have the talent to pass on good defenses even when they're expecting run.

Hopefully with a somewhat stabilized line this week they can find the one or two runs that they know they can get 3-5 yards with and go from there. At this point, I'll take 2nd and 7 over 2nd and 10 every time.

What about 1st and 15 or 20?

I don't care, but if Embo wants this team to be smashmouth, they are gonna have to be able to run the ball even when the other side knows it is coming. And putting the game in the hands of Hansen early on the road... Well that was just ****ing stupid.

We should have just tried to punt it off some osu player's back or something.

I think the run game/blocking has been steadily improving, but early leads by opponents and penalties have been forcing us to pass too much.

Yeah, we are in concurrment. They need to find at least a couple runs that they know they can get 3 yards on every time and go with them.

poll the audience on what date we should be buying our rosebowl tickets on...

undefeated in conference!

:woot:

well, anyhow...

good luck with the gig.

CU already has 14 sacks this season-
If they can get somewhere between 5-6 sacks Saturday I think WSU will have some passing issues.
Buffs must get into the QB's head early..make him make mistakes ..not get comfortable
I think we see some great defensive series sprinkled with some drives where CU gives up big plays.

For topic 1 - 3

1. Minimize unforced errors
2. Minimize unforced errors
3. Minimize unforced errors

Because of injuries and lack of talent at key positions, we can't find ways to shoot ourselves in the foot with untimely penalties and mistakes. As I've said during the chats, we're like ASU (penalties) w/o their talent.

Last, play all 4 quarters and we will win this game.

disagree

Does JE have anyone in mind to use as a fullback in short yardage situations? It's hard to play smash mouth with out a bruising FB

Rep to ANY user who calls in after my interview in 15 minutes and says that Allbuffs is awesome.

I really hope you sound like michael jackson did in that phone call that was released today.

I'd feel kind of douchy calling in saying, "Hey there Tony D, that "dio" guy you just had on was awesome. Oh, and Allbuffs.com is awesome! Umm, love your show. Later man."
