Embree post game. Must listen

I missed the game....driving all over the metroplex to games. I am the biggest Buff fan on this ****ing site, and I told all of you in Nov of 2009 that this would happen. I will check back in 2014.

Embree sums up my feelings perfectly. When are these guys going to get tired of losing? When are they going to start behaving like they expect to win? When will they start getting pissed off at this? When will pride take over? How can a team need to make 1 ****ing play in the last 5 minutes and not be able to come up with one on offense or defense?

Here is what I like: He knows what is wrong. He is trying to fix it. He's pissed that he hasn't fixed it yet

Here is what I don't like: He hasn't ****ing fixed it at all

Threw the players under the bus, you say?

I'd say he called them out more than threw 'em under...my gawd,Espinoza looked like this was the first time he ever put helmet and pads on,he tackles like a giant octa-wussy.Embree's more composed than I could ever be

Agreed dio. I like what he's saying, I'm not liking what he's teaching because it apparently isn't working.

Talent just isn't there IMO -- on either side of the ball. Coaches are in a tough situation because recruiting to a poor team is kind of chicken/egg catch-22 type scenario, but they are going to have to pull off some coups, or things will get very ugly.

the world's slowest moving trainwreck.

oh well. win or lose, we drink.

Y'know, here's the thing for me: They (coaching staff) have to take some measure of personal responsibility here. With 2:00 left and no timeouts for the opposing team, they call a freaking pass? They get one really good (9 yard) pass play to the fullback and then never use it again? They don't rotate their backs for **** so that the #1 guy might, MIGHT, be fresh (or at least fresher) in the 4th quarter when you really need them? These are all coaching calls. Don't get me wrong, I haven't given up on this staff, and I can easily attribute it to being by and large a completely rookie coaching staff (Embree has never been an HC, Bienemy never been an OC before, etc.). But they bear (in my mind) a very large responsibility for this. And they need to own up to it.

I don't know that I buy that. The team and the coaches are learning from their mistakes, they're just uncovering new mistakes with each passing week.

In the Hawaii game they got completely burned by the mobility aspect of a mobile quarterback. A couple weeks later they played a far superior mobile quarterback behind a far superior offensive line at tOSU and held him in check. In that game, they instead lost due to absolutely atrocious (atrocious, atrocious, ATROCIOUS) special teams. This week? Special teams were excellent, but we choked away a win in the final minutes - most notably by a safety not keeping a receiver in front of him in that kind of situation. I'd be willing to wager that won't happen again either going forward, but might we have another few mistakes to work out of our system before we can "put it all together"? Yeah, I think so.

But I do think we're gonna have that week where we do put it all together. And I think it's gonna happen this year. And I think it's gonna be a "holy ****, where the hell did THIS team come from?" kind of experience for the fans.

And it shall be glorious.

Not only did they call a passing play, they called a lousy passing play. If they were gonna pass, it has to be a run/pass bootleg option with maybe dragging a TE over the middle. Just didn't like the play.

You don't erase five years of ineptitude and a defeatist atmosphere in one off season. As soon as they started losing they fell back on learned behavior. The upper classmen may be a lost cause. It's hard to change the atmosphere from a losing program it can take years.

Agree 100%. When you KNOW your team is lacking talent, you do what you have to do to win. In that case, a run/play action bootleg keeper/whatever. Maybe even a screen pass. But that call sucked. All on the coach. Same for the 3rd and 2 during our first possession. This loss was more coaching failure than anything else.

Q: "Have you changed the culture"
A: "No, it is the same."

Death knell for this year is still echoing. I expect to see a lot more freshman playing now. INcluding in the defensive backfield, once we get some CBs back.

What's clear is that losing will not be tolerated with the new regime.

It will take time, but I'm loving Embree so far... he WILL bring CU back to prominence. Book it.

Considering the circumstances I love what Embree is saying here. He is dead on. He called this team out, it is up to them to respond. The talent and ability is just not there though but from what I saw the coaches are getting these guys in the right situations, the players just have to take advantage.

Someone above mentioned bad passing plays at critical times. I do agree that there was a few times when they passed when it may have been smarter to run but I also remember on at least two of those situations today, Tyler choose about the most covered receiver to pass it too and threw a nearly uncatchable pass at that. I am thinking next year with this Wood/Hirschman competition we will be in much better shape at QB. I just hope the line gets a bit better so whoever the QB is, he doesnt get rattled at the beginning and there can be a trust built there with the OLine.

This week? Special teams were excellent .

I guess I have a different definition of excellent. I have a hard time calling getting a field goal blocked & fielding yet another punt well inside our 10 excellent.

Not trying to start anything, just still pissed & wish more fans weren't ok with aspects of stupid play.
