OSU-band-in-CU-block-letter.jpgCU-Fans-@-OSU.jpg:rolling_eyes: My wife and I went to Columbus for the OSU/CU game. Had a great time at the Varsity Club on Friday night with Buff Club members and other CU fans, even met Stuart Whitehair from www.cuatthegame.com. On Saturday prior to leaving our hotel I called the OSU police department to check on their policy regarding backpacks, binoculars, camera, water bottles, etc in the 'shoe. I was told no problem with any of the mentioned items. As we went through the ticket gate, my wife's purse was searched as was my backpack. We were escorted to a "secondary screening area" by a sheriff's deputy and a stadium event crew nazi started to search our bags again. My wife's had already been ok'd, my backpack was the problem. In it I had the above mentioned items plus a CU nylon pullover and a couple of plastic rain coats. After everything had been dumped on the table I was informed that my camera lens wouldn't be allowed in the stadium. My camera is a Canon 60D and I had two interchangeable lens with me. The rule, No professional cameras or lens are permitted in the stadium, except for photographers working the game on the sidelines, with no explanation given. I had a private conversation with the sheriff's deputy who told me that he could do nothing about it, the stadium event nazis were in charge of internal operations of the 'shoe. Finally after more discussions with the stadium nazi and his supervisor they permitted me to take my camera and other gear into the stadium. As we walked away, the sheriff's deputy told me that the reason for the no professional camera/lens rule was because the OSU football players were having their friends take action pictures during the game, then later on a second picture was taken with the player autographing the action picture, showing the authentic signature, and then selling both on eBay or other sports collectible outlets, with the friend and the player pocketing the money. I guess it was just more of the same scamming and cheating by OSU players that caused this no professional camera rule.:wtf:

The pictures from OSU are the CU fans in Section 8C and the OSU band making the CU block logo and playing Shoulder to Shoulder, a very classy act! The OSU fans were great. Only the stadium event staff were a-holes.

I had a great time in Columbus. The OSU fans were great before, during and after the game. So far the ONLY away game I have gone to where an opposing fan did not get up in my face after the game. I would definitely go back for a normal game, however since Michigan is my second team it probably wouldn't be for one of their games there..

Agree... Lots of 'welcome to ohio' and 'thanks for coming out' and stuff like that. Some of the ushers gave us some lighthearted teasing about grilling buffalo meat, but it was all in good fun. Other than that, there was absolutely nothing to report at all.

We are the most non-threatening team in the world. Of course opposing fans are nice to us. My dad and I were actually kind of pissed at how nice the fans were in Tallahassee when we played FSU. Not really pissed, obviously we appreciate the hospitality, but sometimes it almost felt more like pity than hospitality. There is something to be said for being hated on the road.

There is a difference between being hospitable and being patronizing. I have an inkling that the attitude of opposing fans is going to be more on the patronizing side of things for a while.

I was pleasantly surprised by OSU fans - I had heard a lot of bad things about them, but they couldn't have been more welcoming or friendly - I also sat well away from the CU section and was completely surrounded by OSU fans and had no issues at all during the game...special shoutout to Rugged, SnowBuff, Bob Loblaw, OUBuff & HawtWf (and fam), and DigiBuff (& friend) who I met at Varsity Club Friday night - great meeting all of you and putting a face to some of the names here! I'll put up some of my own pics in a few days when I have the chance...

I was also in the OSU section and had a similar experience. They even applauded when some cu fan in my section sung the fight song when we scored after the game was pretty much over. And it wasn't a haha applaud, it was a respectful applaud.

Dude, what happened that Friday night after snow and loblob peaced and we went downtown with someone else and that local dude and then there were these chicks in a booth and one of them was leading me on before telling me she had a boyfriend, then I called her a **** and went back to the hotel all pissed off? Is that what really happened, or am I retarded? (not mutually exclusive, so "Yes" is a legitimate answer)

I have nothing but good things to say about the OSU experience... damn it. Seriously, we had a good time and the people there were absolutly welcoming. Truth is my kids liked the stadium experience too much I had to listen to OOoooOOOoooOOOooo (their pre-kick off chant) all the way home... 10 hrs. As much as I hated the chant, a fan base with a tradition is a great thing to see. Same same with the WVU fan experience a couple of years ago. The boys still do the "Woo Woo Woo... clap... first down" thing they did at WV.

Yeah I thought the overall experience was rather fun...except for the game. But compared to Cal last year, the game was just fine...I thought it was pretty sweet how their band played our fight song. It wasn't half-hearted at all, and they had it down. It was a fun stadium, and they have a lot of enthusiastic cheers. Their fans are pretty knowledgeable too - they stay deadly quiet when they are on offense, and make noise at the right times.I got to go on the field for a little bit...you have no idea how much I wanted to tackle the OSU kick returner (forget who it was) as he raced past us down the sideline to I think the 9...it's really hard to see the game from the field...The area is pretty cool though. I met some really nice OSU fans, and I met the Slavin family. They're proud of their kid, and told me some interesting info - nothing earthshattering....Columbus does suck though...not a whole lot to that place...I walked around their river walkway, and I saw a large dead fish just floating in a dead pool off of the river...Cleveland sucks, Columbus sucks, is there any city in Ohio that's cool?

Yea, that was pretty much it in a nutshell - except we had a hell of a time finding your hotel and you were pretty much going off on anyone who didnt know where it was..

Rugged, we may have had this conversation before, but do you know who your father is? I'm not wondering for any particular reason.

But seriously, who the **** lives in Columbus and doesn't know where the Hyatt is?

Well, it was the sheraton when we arrived, so that might have been the problem.

Some pics...let me know if they don't work...

More to come from inside the stadium later...

The ****ing cops have the buckeye stickers on their motorcycle helmets? Wow

Will fix eventually. Been meaning to post these for awhile, but I've been really pissed for the last two weeks.

Michigan Logo in every toilet at OSU. Funny.

The drive on the way into the stadium. No ****. I felt like I was in "The Wire", which is the best show on TV.
