Mack Brown

Is there any talk of him feeling the heat after the 5-6 season last year and now back-to-back losses to the Okie schools? I know they just lost to two great teams, but with all the talent in Austin, you have to think the horn fans are getting a little restless.

I think a lot of UT fans are about ready for him to retire. Hopefully they get crushed by aTm.

I thought Texas played good today. Significantly better than last week. I mean Okie State is good this year, especially with Weedon to Blackmon. They have a rookie QB. If i was a Texas fan, I would want Mack Brown gone for other reasons, but today should be seen as an improvement.

Mack got a free pass winning the big ticket in 05 with this generation of horn fans. they talk big, but they know they haven't done squat in 30 years.

he's only ever been as good as his assistants and minus Muschamp and Chizik he's got too much in the bank this time around. Harstin and Manny Diaz may be young guns and great someday....but they've looked overmatched against OU and OSU imo.

Texas will finish 8-4 and that's what everyone expected from them this year. don't see any issue.

Oh give me a break, you were bitching when CU had a 7-2 record with far less talent. And Texas is very talented

Texas is a 8-4 team with young talent. if they had great talent they wouldn't have been 5-7 last year or gotten blown out by 40 to OU this year.

Bama, LSU, OU are very talented.

Texas fans think they are something special. The program makes more money and has more resources than any other program in the country. They sit square in the middle of the richest recruiting territory in the country and can for the most part pick and choose which of those recruits they want. How many Februarys in the past 4-5 have they been outside of the top 20 much less top 10 rated recruiting class.

Either these recruits year after year are highly overrated or the coaching staff is doing a poor job of developing and using them (or a mix of both.)

Brown gets a lot of slack because of the NC and some wins over OU earlier in his career at UT. A lot of that we now know was out of character and based on having Vince Young who made up for a lot of other deficiencies in the program.

They would never admit it publicly because that would mean admitting that something is wrong but I would guess that a lot of horns fans are doing some talking in private after getting embarrassed by OU again and not contending for the conference championship again.

most of their talent is young. again texas is not that talented of a team.

i think people expected Gilbert to take a step forward and establish himself for a SR year. he's not even on the team anymore. they have a 5 star QB transferring to Colorado. Ash doesn't look like the next Danny O'Brian winner imo. yet. still don't run the ball effectively with Malcolm Brown, the second coming. meanwhile OU is starting some walk-on who is putting up 100 per.

i don't see this team winning 8, 7 maybe. they need a lot of "breaking good" for 7 W's imo.

Are you on crack? seriously!

Last 5 recruiting class national rank for Texas according to scout

2011: #3
2010: #3
2009: #7
2008: #16
2007: #3

Thats 3 of the past 5 years they have had a top 5 class. Oh and they are currently ranked #2 for this years class

Again, they have some of the best talent in the country, coming off a 5-6 season, 6 years removed from a national title with the same coach.

I agree that they may be underachieving, but QB is kind of an important position and despite stellar recruiting (4 and 5 stars... what more can you ask of him?) it hasn't panned out, that is a big part of it. Youth is also a big part. I hate tejas, hate em a lot but Mack is a good coach and they'd be stupid to fire him. If 5-7 and 8-4 are you're worst two years (I bet they finish better than 8-4 this year anyways) then that is a good problem to have. Maybe they haven't lived up to the talent but the thing is he IS bringing in the talent, I'd rather have a coach who brings in amazing talent and slightly underachieves than a coach who brings in **** talent and occasionally overachieves. Mack should do more with that talent... but he gets the talent, more than a lot of coaches can say.

Despite this rant, I'd love nothing more than to see the gaysquaks upset them next week on their "shorthorn network" game and possibly put the nail in ole macks coffin

Obviously u take recruiting rankings as the only barometer for talent. I tend to look at other stuff like NFL draft lists, etc. Texas doesn't have many players on it. its not a very talented team if u compare them to OU, Bama, LSU.

CU must have been VERY talented last season then because they were one of the top schools for NFL draft picks last year

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Oklahoma had the same number of draft picks as CU, we're as talented as the Sooners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

I really can't believe you're trying to argue that Texass doesn't have talent.

I didn't ****ing say they didn't have talent. I said they aren't very talented compared to the tops teams in the country

bama, lsu and OU have more talent than Texas. I don't really give a **** what the recruiting rankings say. Those 3 have more talent than Texas based on what I"ve seen on the field.

OSU has more talent than Texas too.

Jimmy speaks the truth on this one guys. Texas was looking at a 9-3 record at best this year. They have won the games they were supposed to, and lost the ones they were expected to. Most local analysts expected a blowout today, but UT kept it pretty close. The Texas team is very young and is rebuilding right now. Mack will of course take some heat with the loss, but his job is not on the line.
