This sh*t and feeling is really getting old... should we post a walkout? stand down? full on support (as hard as it is)? the Buffs really look out of it... high school teams would beat them. It's all the players and coaches fault. We are soft and weak - defeated before we go on the field. the lack of pride that is shown by these players is amazing. Coaches are trying to build pride, but? I don't understand?

Just make your expectations meet reality and keep supporting them. What we need is some sort of ADept. support as in an announcement of a new indoor practice facility in the near future with a plan in place and we can use that for recruiting.

I told myself I wouldn't drink yesterday... about half way through the 2nd Quarter I had to start

that would help with recruiting maybe - seems like all these pac teams we are playing are getting upgraded facilities or just did... ex. stan, az st, o, cal, ucla, w, we got a rock in front of our practice field and a pallet of bricks out back collecting dust... wtf?

Don't forget WSU, I was watching some of that game and they have plans in place for a new football only facility in the endzone and expansion on seating to around 50,000.

Full up support. We all knew this was a major rebuilding job, right?

I now better understand Mac's comments about how it might have made sense to install him for a few years with Embree as the Coach In Waiting so that Mac could take the heat. This is a really bad situation.

Everyone thought it would be a rebuilding job, but you may be right in that Mac saw how bad it was. I certainly thought it was bad, but not this bad. We really do not have much BCS talent on the roster. Kind of like rebuilding SMU without the sanctions.

Not sure what Mac could do about low talent level combined with injuries. Maybe we win another game, but we'd still suck. The Farce left us in bad shape.

The point was that mac would take the heat from fans about losing while they rebuild then as they get better, transition to embree. Make it easier on him.

Oh, yeah, maybe next time I'll read the whole sentence - doubt it, but there's a chance.

Sounds good. I rarely read whole posts. Takes away ****talking time.

I honestly don't see us wining another game this year.

With as bad is everything is I still feel better about this team and coaches than I did three years ago under DII. Watching the games it is crystal clear that we are simply lacking talent everywhere on the field to compete this year.

I don't blame any of the current coaches for the situation we are in. This debacle falls directly onto Bohn and the rest of the CU admin that let DII stick around 2 years longer than they should have. DII spent 4+ years bringing in inferior talent and destroying the program. The fact that Bohn & CU didn't care is the reason we are here.

We have Espinoza starting at CB, and last year we were pissed when DII had him in games to simply return punts. Two steps behind Mahnke still seeing playing time tells you everything you need to know about our D. Our O line is incapable of moving anyone two yards off the ball.

The only joy watching the team is seeing some of the freshmen getting PT and beginning to start making plays.

Support. I will stay delusional in the first year of a new staff even with the losses. I asked for a new coaching staff and that's what I got. Embree brought better assistants and recruiters with him and regardless of what is being seen on the field the staff has had more success in their previous jobs than the Hawkins crew did. That is a fact. I'm going to stick with them and if I don't see an attitude change from the players next year I will start questioning how effective the grown-ups getting paid to run the program have been. If we don't get better recruiting results in 2013 and that fall we are still struggling to field a competitive team I will start voicing my concern for whether this is the right staff to be running things. I'm not talking divisional titles. I'm talking getting boat raced by mid-3rd quarter in multiple games with no shot of a comeback. If that road losing streak is intact by that third year.

Hawk got to season 4 before a Powder Blue game and Embree deserves at least as long. I can tell from the emotion that JE and EB aren't just disappointed by losses because it goes on their permanent records. They hate losing and they hate seeing those wearing the black and gold uniform be irrelevant in their own conference. We need players.

I have had hope through the season that continues to wane for the 2011 season. Maybe there is one or two wins still there to be had. Lord, it reminds me of when I was a kid going to see games in the Fairbanks years. Anyway, the thing I have this year that I have not had for awhile is hope for the coming years. We acutally have some decent recruits that want to come in here an change things. Buffnik could confirm, but I don't think we have had this many verbals at this point of a recruiting season for quite some time. I can now have hope for the fresh blood that will be infused into the Buffalo. Now, lets see some big fast linemen join the club.

I'm not sure limiting our coaching search to an "in the family" basis with Embree and Bieniemy was the right thing to do, but it's an upgrade over the previous guy. If we want the football program to get its head above water sometime soon then we must do the one thing that is actually in our control: give $$$ and keep showing up at games, both home and away.

It's disappointing that we've seen zero sign of improvement (and might actually be worse) this year, but it's too early to seriously judge just yet.

I tire of the comparisons of McCartney's first handful of years because we sometimes made excuses for the last coach with that. But I find it interesting that in desperate times like these we are invoking Fairbanks more and more to associate with the bad records. 2-8-1 in the first year and 1-10 in his third year. I would be foolish to anoint Embree as the next McCartney but I am going to have to take my disappointments in bulk and stick with what we have now. It's all about trying to change the mentality and the abilities of the player you inherit and once you have your own players there are much, much fewer excuses. After that 1-10 year Mac never had another losing season. It was also almost entirely his team. I'll take my frustration-acceptance cycles now but in a few years I'll lose that patience.

After re-watching the game, I'm convinced Brown has to go. This was the most inept defensive performance I've seen. We may be light on talent but damn, even I could figure out what Udub wanted to do and could figure out how to stop them, or at least put players in a position to try. See ya Brownie. Loser. I'm always amazed at the idea of hiring a twerp who really has no experience in playing the game at this level and expect him to be successful teaching athletes how to play.

Lots of great coaches fit that description. Greg never played at this level, but he did play football and is the son of a coach.

I played at the college level and I'm the son of a coach, does that entitle me? I would never go into battle with someone who hasn't been there. That is part of the problem on defense. Define 'Lots of great coaches'.

That list just shows he can coach a position. The question is about the entire defense. There is no evidence yet to support his ability in that capacity. He has to improve despite the talent situation, which he is partially responsible for considering his tenure as one of the Hawkin's coaches.

While he was at Arizona last year he was at least partially responsible for having the #33 overall D, which isn't too shabby. He just doesn't have the players to have a sufficient defense at this point. Some of that can be attributed to less than stellar recruiting but a good chunk is also attributed to injuries. Greg Henderson was considered the 4th best corner on the team in fall camp and is now our best so we should see an improvement next year if we can stay somewhat healthy in the secondary.

Arizona had a great finish to the season on defense too.

Fun stat of the week for tini.

Arizona last year on defense gave up 389 yards rushing and 148 yds passing (48 pts) last year to Oregon. He's really good.

They still weren't giving up many points except to Oregon, Oklahoma State and Stanford, whom very few stopped the whole year and are top 10 teams. Why don't we give him a chance where he doesn't have to play offensive players in the secondary before we come to conclusions. All these people bitching still can't name a DC who could do good with the current players, and I'm waiting for someone to answer that.
