might as well start it now. This seems to start earlier every year. So far we got:

tOSU, now vestless, and probably looking to replace Fickell, or Frackle, whatever the guy's name is...some suggestion Urban "My heart is fine" Meyer is in the running, maybe even Bo Peep...

AZ, Stoops lite got the heave ho....early names Leach, Petersen, or someobdy else who may be shanghaied to Tucson....

Penn State - at some point Joe Pa has to retire. Doesn't he?

And let's not forget UCLA. A near certainty that "era" is ending....

Gill may get further years at KU due to contract stuff and maybe a 3rd year just to give him a "shot" but things aren't looking too promising. they are dreadful. that Orange Bowl W is looking pretty far back in the rear view....and each year further down, more difficult to bring it back up. and it's still Kansas.

and, with this slide back into crap, they are back in the hiring a Terry Allen type and not possibly bit of a player (Orange Bowl W) in the coaching market.

I know Schnellenberger at FAU said he would retire after this year, but haven't heard if they have named his successor.

And when will BC "admit their mistake" and get a real HC, instead of Frank Spaziani.

I think Joe Pa might be a vampire...you know the undead. I don't think he'll retire until he goes toes up, and the guy is on track to give Methusaleh a run for his money.

I think Fairchild sticks around. They have the polar opposite of our schedule this year - brutally easy. They'll go to a bowl game and he'll keep his job. Which is a good thing.

I wonder how long Kiffen will stay around at USC. They are seriously underperforming this year.

Ole Miss will probably be in the market and for a guy thats gonna be fired Nutt will probably have a couple suitors

On the flip side the interim guy at North Carolina (Everit Withers?) is doing a fine job,not that they've beat anyone worth a ****,they'll go bowling

I think Fickell will be gone, Neweasel if he doesn't make a bowl and Mack Brown gets caught in something nasty and gets canned.

I am particularly interested in the AZ situation.

According to the AZ boards the list is:

Petersen (Can a Boise coach ever do well anywhere but Boise?)

Leach, ahoy mateys

Paul Chryst, from the land of cheese curds to burritos

Kirby Smart, Bammer DC

Rich Rod, the Dirty Sanchez goes south

Mike Belotti

Gus Malzahn

Luke Fickell, aka Frackel

Chuck Cecil, Titans DC and former AZ great, anger management poster child

Will be interesting for the P12 S, especially if the Trickster wears out his welcome at fUCLA....

A 4-1 team/coach is under-performing?

I see the Trojans as 9-3 this year with losses to the devils, ducks, and the tree. That's pretty damned good if you ask me, especially considering the limited scholarships and lack of bowl eligibility.

Bowl eligibility really doesn't effect the record and the scholarship probation hasn't gone into effect yet either

Since USC is not eligible, the NCAA has made their players "free agents" if they wish to transfer without a year penalty. They did a good job of stuffing some recruits into past classes, but it's a big strain on their program.

Either way, 4-1 is pretty strong to me. I don't really get the under-performing comment.

4-1 against a soft early season schedule and they have only played one road game. The next two weeks will tell a lot when they actually have to go on the road.

Well, in fairness, I was basing the under-performing comment on what I saw from them against ASU. They looked pretty average in that game. Lots of mental errors.

Petersen at Boise gets a clause added to his contract guaranteeing a one year extension every time he hits 8 W's, and doubles his bonus from $50,000 to $100,00 for hitting that mark. Boise looks to be preparing to fend off poachers to the best of their ability....could be relevant for AZ.

I would advise prospective schools to look hard at the prior 3 poaches from Boise before tendering any offer.

az or ucla would be a good fit for Peterson - suck for us
