Sounds like a super guy

FORT COLLINS — Colorado State safety Ivory Herd will be suspended "for an indefinite amount of time," CSU coach Steve Fairchild said today, as a result of the senior's arrest on domestic violence, harassment and criminal mischief last Wednesday.According to the Fort Collins police, Herd argued with his girlfriend, pushed her and broke the bedroom door in her off-campus apartment.

The bedroom door part reminds me of when Patrick Roy supposedly ripped the doors of his bedroom when arguing with his wife.

I look forward to the barrage of media stories about the out of control criminal environment in Fort Collins that are sure to follow....

I do think that in his desperation, Fairchild has really lowered the ethical standards in his program. Guys getting caught cheating on ACTs, shoving security guards into pools, now this.

Wonder where this puts them in the Fulmer cup

She must have a gaping vagina for a bedroom door to be able to be broken in her.

I'm sorry, I just saw this on Ramnation and it made me laugh - discussing how much their next coach will make

If we go after an assistant or FCS coach we most likely pay around $800k.

If we can start a dialog with Leavitt, Mangino, Barnett or the slight chance
of Leach, Nutt, Tressel, Urban, we may go up to $1m+.

Paying decent money for a guy like Leavitt would pay for itself over a few
years. The fan base would be pumped. Look at that record..

If it only costs $1MM, then we should go after Urban Meyer

Everyone of those other guys is damaged goods, but they would still cost more.

Besides that, I don't see how CSU affords 7 digits for a coach. They are deep financial trouble

Also, can you imagine if they hired Gary Barnett .... the average CSU fans head would explode.

My parents are CSU alum and they were fighting with me on Friday about the scandal and Gary Barnett. The would disown CSU if they went that route.

CSU has serious money problems in the AD, I would guess their top bid for a coach would be around $500k-$550k. More likely it will be in the $350 range.

The money issue is the same reason that they will likely keep SF through the end of the year win or lose.

I endorse Houston Nutt for CSU head coach. I do not even care how it happens, but I hope it gets done.

They would have to actually care about CSU first.

As for coaching salary. They may be able to pay the head guy near $1M, but the CSU ass. coaches would be getting paid peanuts, meaning a very poor pool to choose from.

Their next head coach will be paid about the same as Fairchild is right now.

Maybe not. Their finances are very tight and loads of empty seats aren't helping.

They hired Fairchild with the idea that they would have a revenue boost from winning, didn't happen (either one.)

The buyout of Fairchild may impact what they pay his replacement. CU is in somewhat the same situation with Embree and Bienemy making less than D2 was getting paid. Once he is off the books things may change but finances drive a lot of decisions these days.

buffedup's comment about assistant coach pay is spot on as well. They are going to struggle to get and keep decent coaches in their current situation, both the HC and the assistants.

CSU is in a very tough spot right now. Negligible fan base. Dying conference. Broke AD with no money to overpay to entice a coach. Their AD is going to have to be a heck of a salesman to get anyone worth a damn to come there.

I feel bad for them. I'd rather them not sink to complete irrelevance. We haven't been doing them any favors by having the worst run as a program in our history. They do better when Colorado's flagship university is doing better. The scraps from our table are much meatier in good times.

well played

This thread is a rep goldmine. 5 already, unfortunately the only strong one was from you. Others were newbs on the first post of mine that didn't deserve rep. They will learn.
