Four thoughts on the game

1. Hansen is a great Buff. He plays with heart and he's overcome a lot of **** in his time at CU. And... we need a better quarterback than he is. One additional player would not have turned this game into a win, but I couldn't shake the feeling that a more accurate passer would have kept the game a lot closer.

2. There were enough bright spots on defense that I think we're going to get there... if we ever get healthy. The freshmen who have been playing all year were making good decisions and played well - they've improved with the coaching and playing time. We just don't have enough horses right now.

3. Hopefully some people who were at the game can confirm this, but from my couch 2,000 miles away it didn't look like there were any players on the sidelines ****ing around. It also sure looked to me like at one point during the second half that Embree was reminding the players to stay focused on the game when they were on the sidelines. This to me is a very good sign that the rot is starting to be cleared, and attitudes are changing. I think it was naive of us to think Embree could make the attitude change any faster than he has done - the team really appears to finally be coming around. We're not there yet, but at least I am finally 100% sure that we've left.

4. Speedy is great running back and a fantastic Buffalo.

1. Agree
2. Kind of agree, we had some people in the right spots. They just didn't make plays. Sandersfield had a rough day.
3. I wasn't paying attention to the sidelines much. Cabral and Embree showing some skin on the sidelines.
4. Yes

Hansen is a great Buff. Having said that, he sometimes refuses to step-up in the pocket and instead makes a throw off his back foot. His leadership skills are also lacking. I was sad to see PRich and Clemons' attitude when Tyler missed them in the second half. You could tell they thought Tyler stunk. Part of the blame has to go to the O-line, but hopefully Wood brings it next year and we have some receivers to replace Clemons (not too worried about losing Gray - at least 3 bone-headed plays tonight by my count).

The biggest plus was that CU scored first and was tied up at the end of the first quarter. That was the best first quarter in conference play EVAR (which isn't saying much.)

Clemmons had a better day that Richardon. I didn't see that coming.

Nice to see two games in a row with an INT. Nice job, Espy.

Boy Washington got his bell rung. Seeing him stagger back up only to fall down was heart wrenching. I hops he shakes that off.

With those quick positives out of the way, it's still remains incredibly frustrating to see the Buffs get manhandled and watch the offense sputter in the red zone. This is going to be a huge rebuilding project for emBurritoBeerMe

T Clem has kind of quietly put together two straight decent games receiving. If he continues to play like that, and if P Rich returns to form, it will go a long way towards helping them get something going in these last few games.

Anyone watch EB up on the booth whenver the O screwed something up. You need binoculars but lots of arms were flailing around and he shoots up out of that chair faster than anyone else his size. Too bad we can't get his energy on the field during the game. He fired the team up beforehand though! Great to see that!

Hansen might be a "great Buff" because he wouldn't get a whiff of playing time at any other BCS conf. school. It's not like he remained loyal to CU while having tons of (or any) options to transfer and get more playing time elsewhere. Just sayin'

You know, I get it, but yours is a cheap shot that really serves no purpose. He's a kid! If you want to take a shot, TAKE A SHOT AT ME!! I'M A MAN!! Mother ****er!

Hansen is physically limited which is why he was available to us in recruiting and why Hawkins went after him. Didn't want someone to come in and put his boy on the bench.

That all said in the right circumstances Hansen could have been an effective AQ level QB with the right coaching and support, we all know what he got instead.

Right now he looks to be about where he should have been late in his sophmore year. I am flipping channels around and see a lot of college QBs who are not more talented than he is but he never got his skills developed in an orderly, planned way.

Clemons might have come to a realization that unless he does something very impressive soon his football career will be over in a few weeks. Based on his time so far the best he can hope for is a UFA contract but unless he shows some things he won't get that. Looks like he has stepped it up. He has also not only been catching the ball but doing some blocking as well.

View from my couch also looked like the coaches were into it and the players more focused. It helps not to be down by 30 at the end of the first quarter but it does seem like attitude is slowly turning.

Speedy has been a great Buff, this was one of his better games in a while.

we have a ways to go... looks like an average HS team vs college. there is a glimpse here and there, three our four players that stand out -speedy, amazing with his size, but great heart. TClem - finally thats what I expected since the day he transferred in. Washington, future stud. Henderson, great game! again. webb, future stud, where is major? fullback needs the ball, tight end needs the ball, hansen should run more, all that would help keep defense honest... quiet night for lots of players

Major was all over the place last night. His name was probably called the most on D.

I'm rich bitch!

Looks really slow out there with the knee injury, can't run well, doesn't cut on the bad knee. If this were a team with any depth he would likely be sitting out working on trying to get the knee healthy. I hope an off-season will allow him to get some of it back.

Major lead the team in tackles. 8 solo.

My 4 thoughts during the game:

1. I'm not drunk enough.
2. I'm really not drunk enough.
3. I don't know if it's possible to get drunk enough.
4. Basketball tips off next Friday.

At this point, I'm looking for guys to play hard and young guys to develop. If we get another win that would be allsome, but I'm not expecting it. My focus is pretty much on recruiting and hoops now. Games are more about the tailgate and having some fun just being in the crowd at Folsom (even when it sucks, it's still pretty cool).

Agree to disagree, I just fail to see what makes Hansen a "great Buff" simply because he remained at a school that was his only shot to be a starter at this level. Maybe our societal standards have fallen so much that someone who simply hangs in there and deals with some adversity instead of running away from it is deemed "great" now. Is he a good kid? Yes. Is he a pretty bad quarterback that tends to blame others for his mistakes on the field? Yes.

I dunno. I gave 'tini rep for something last week.

I guess my thought on Hansen is that in the final analysis, he could have been a much better QB if he had been properly coached, not treated like a secondhand nuisance for the majority of his college career. I could be wrong, but he seems to still make freshman mistakes, which would be a sign of never having received proper QB coaching. He shows flashes of having the ability to be a much better QB than he is.

A better quarterback would have made that game much closer, IMO. Probably not enough to win, as our defense is still terrible. I'm cautiously optimistic about what Wood can do next year.

Hansen is a good kid that has had a tough time at CU. He is a decent QB, but we could and need to do much better. Best part about TH imho, he has no problem calling out our RG when he continues to spew Dan Hawkins like bull$hit from his mouth and doesn't get it done on the field!
