2017 CU Players in the NFL (Plus Draft Thread)

Okay chief, your superfan merit badge remains intact. Was just having some fun celebrating Chido and not looking forward to my NFL team having to deal with him; don't want to waste any more time on foolishness.

It's zbuff. Don't engage

Are you kidding? First, great situation for him, they will contend for a while. Secondly, Chido Awuzie from COLORADO will be splashed all over Texas!
Feel like there aren't better teams they could have gone to recruiting-wise than the Cowboys and 9ers. So pumped!

Tedric looks positioned to get picked in the 4th.

Hard to project after that, but Gilbert may be getting his name called. And someone is going to be smart enough to draft Tupou.

Gilbert and Tupou I think will get drafted in the 6th and 7th rounds respectively.

On a side note how bout that MW conference? 0 draft picks. What a loaded group of talent in that conference!

Just read up on the Cowboys. Sounds like he is basically a shoe in for early PT. It kinda sucks they drafted another nickel DB but I'm confident he can win out

Draft article on Tupou: http://www.ocregister.com/2017/04/28/orange-countys-josh-tupou-grows-into-nfl-draft-prospect/

He visited with several scouts at the East-West game and also made pre-draft visits to Seattle, Cincinnati and Oakland.

“He’s a huge force in the middle as a nose tackle,” said Audie Attar of Paradigm Sports in Irvine, Tupou’s agent. “(He’s) literally immovable.”

While Tupou is projected by NFL.com to be selected in the fifth or sixth round, he won’t be deterred if he goes undrafted. He’ll pursue signing as a free agent.

My biggest frustration when looking at the Buff seniors in this draft is that CU was in such bad shape that Jimmie Gilbert wasn't able to redshirt his freshman year. He played this season at 215 lbs, but his body has finally started to take on weight and he weighed in at CU's pro day at 234 while keeping his 40 time down to 4.64 with a 37" vertical at the new weight. But he still only put up 12 reps at 225. Jimmie at 240 lbs by camp with more upper body strength while maintaining his speed and explosiveness... would have been an AA candidate this season. Some NFL team is going to be very happy at the end of the draft. Last 2 rounds, you draft for potential by going for athletes and guys with special skills. Gilbert's the perfect pick for a team to take a flyer on because he could develop into a heck of an NFL pass rusher and he's pretty natural in his drops. For him, I'm looking at teams like the Steelers that play a 3-4 and have shown a willingness and ability to develop late round talent.

I think Tupou will go probably 5 or 6. Teams mentioned, probably a good bet. With this draft, who the hell knows though. Seen some head scratchers for sure.

His arms are pretty damn long it seems. I wouldn't worry about the reps just yet, he'll get stronger. Cool to hear he put on some weight.

Chido's gained like 8,000 followers just since getting drafted by Dallas, that sort of exposure can't hurt. I'd expect they want to use both Lewis and him on the same field, but they do need to get rid of Scandrick, who he seems like a direct replacement for.

Steelers fans were pissed that Dallas picked Chido. They thought they had him.

My brother and I talked about this last night, Scandrick part. He's a Cowboys lifer. . He wasn't afraid of giving Scandrick the curb. He's really excited to have Chido. We actually started talking about him as a possibility for Dallas a few weeks ago. He thinks he'll play right away, I tend to agree.

None of the Buffs who will be drafted were able to redshirt, except Tupou, and that was due to discipline. Chido was tiny as a freshman, but you could see the potential. Ahkello was too skinny and got injured. Tedric was more ready but raw. Gilbert needed S&C early but we were forced to play him. Those Buffs teams were so bad.

Yeah. I think of other guys like KO, too, who had no business being out there as a true frosh. It's going to make such a difference in future years now that we've got a roster of 70+ legit Pac-12 players and climbing.
