2018-2019 Coaching Carousel..

From FootballScoop:
Kansas: Asked if he plans on jumping right back into coaching somewhere next year, David Beaty responded, “I can’t see myself just sitting around.”

Beaty is a guy that will be in pretty high demand on any staff that recruits Texas.

Also on the KU staff, I still believe that the OC he fired during the year (Doug Meacham) is a damn good coordinator. Those TCU offenses he coordinated from 2014-16 didn't happen by accident. That wasn't a program known for dynamic offense until he got there.

Meacham had a co-coordinator title at TCU, but Sonny Cumbie was and still is their play-caller. He took the gig at Kansas so he could call plays.

moving my response here
Is Fuente's seat really that hot?
I doubt it, but things are bad in Blacksburg. Coach Fu's recruiting hasn't gotten past the level that Beamer allowed it to fall in his latter years. The nation's longest running bowl streak is about to come to a screeching halt. The Wahoos have a good chance of scoring their first win over VT since 2003. Attendance is down at Lane Stadium (literally, Stubhub has Miami tickets, fugging VT/Miami tickets, for $15 right now! VT/Miami $15 FFS).

FML. shjt is bad.

Bonus points if we hire Meacham as OC and Beaty as WR coach, making Beaty work for Meacham.

so the KU jet landed 30 min ago in Lawrence ...returned from Colorado Springs
and KU fans are asking who's that man with KU's AD ?

now they are saying it's just the pilot....lol
looks like today's KU Flight Tracker escapade has come to an end without
any concrete answers...KU fans thought Miles was on his way to Kansas buy alas not
tonight
personally I think odds are higher Les ends up in Lawrence than Boulder..

if he was going to Conway's Red Top for a burger.....i think it closed a few years back, sadly.

Calhoun makes some sense for option in the Big XII theorists.....but i wouldn't leave the AFA for KU. Troy's national stock was higher a few seasons back, i'd think.

also, someone else in another thread posted MM to KU. never thought of it.....makes some sense....kinda. rebuild job.....got elements of a "face-saving" lateral move optics....maybe that's the new MM calling card....SJSU, CU....KU. spit-balling...

The silly season has now grabbed Miles, a man who just turned 65 this past weekend and has been out of the game for more than two years. Through all this hubbub regarding his coaching future, Miles has spent his weekends watching college football games, only he does it from the stands, cheering on his sons, one a quarterback at North Carolina and the other a fullback at Texas A&M. In his backyard on sunny afternoons, he plays catch with his youngest daughter, a middle school softball player whose fastball already has college coaches buzzing. In the mornings, during his daily hour elliptical workout, he watches his oldest daughter thrive in her new gig as a Baton Rouge television reporter.

Miles splits his fatherly duties with his new craft. He’s broken into the world of acting, appearing in one feature film as a NASA engineer and starring in a beer commercial that has him nibbling on grass. He’s dabbled in TV analyst jobs, hosts a weekly podcast and he’s a frequent speaker at coaching clinics. But what Miles really wants to do is coach again. He’s made that clear to those close to him, whether it Louisville, Kansas or even Colorado, which reportedly may come open after this season (Miles served for five years in the 1980s as Colorado’s offensive line coach, during which he worked with many of the Buffaloes’ current athletic administrators).

Football Scoop on the USC situation:

USC: After practice yesterday Clay Helton addressed rumors about his job security with the Trojans by sharing, “My plan is to be here another 15 years. I’d like to do it until I’m 60 right here. That’s my plan, and I feel very secure in where I’m at.”

Final part of "Nuclear Winter" had Lane Kiffin going to UNLV. Has there ever been a better fit? We NEED to see Joey Freshwater coaching in Vegas, baby.

Helton is actually #1 on the Coaches Hot Seat website as of today - HCMM is 5th

I keep seeing stuff that KU might open the vault to hire Dave Doeren away from NC State. Doeren's from Kansas and has said in the past that he really wants that job.

That would be a strange thing for Doeren to do, IMO.

I think both he and NC State are ready for a change.
NC State is a weird place. my sister works at UNC so i visit and i lived in Durham briefly many years ago.....and NCSU is always 3rd in the Triangle area....in almost everything...prestige, media coverage, sports success, hoops over football area etc......could see that being a tough row to hoe. NCSU is a good to pretty good school.....but, it's not UNC or Duke....or even Wake down the road. always feeling like you are fighting way uphill to your rivals. lot of built-in disadvantages. seems to be a consistent high water mark for NCSU sports that Doeren may have hit.

KU is kinda #1 out on that part of the prairie....if that is where you are from....might have appeal. Lawrence is a reasonably OK college town. would be a pretty good hire for KU imo.
