If you were hired as a head coach at 2.4 mil a year wold you want an adminstrator dictating your coaching personnel decisions? Maybe RG ought to be on the intercom overruling 4th down play calls.

Which is why I said that RG may have recommendations and valuable input, since he knows the coaches, but would not get in MT’s way on who he chooses to hire onto his staff.

You want to saddle our new head coach with 6 existing coaches? That is bat****
I see value in keeping four, with one being the S&C coach, yes:
Chev - but at WR, not OC. Recruits well
Drake - the DL had major improvements this past season under Drake
Roper - QB Coach, the players wanted him as interim coach - should tell you something and recruits well
Drew Wilson - I remember how CU players looked before he arrived. It was like JV players playing against Varsity - he has made a difference, particularly with CU recruiting 2 & 3 star players vs the 4 & 5 star players who were bigger and faster out of HS that most of CU's players.

That still leaves critical hires at OC, DC and the rest of the staff. That would be my preference, then again, I am not an incoming coach with stops at OSU, Alabama, Georgia and the NFL.

fair enough...I just don't think a prime time coach needs an athletic director microing him. hire and fire

What if Dell McGee is the new OC and RB Coach? Then he can keep Roper on the QB's and ask for help on Passing Game?

McGee as OC? Ehhhh I'd rather have James Coley-just as good a recruiter (not just in South Florida, but I think he's the kind of AC who could open up a pipeline there) and he's been a coordinator at Florida State and Miami. He turned down A&M because Jimbo calls their plays.

Possibly, but McGee could bring some class back to the CU running game. I wanna see us have a great running back and running game again!

As a running backs coach if we can afford it? Oh totally. As an OC? No. Coley over him. If Coley says no, I'd reach out to Matt Canada. We need to make a splash with that hire. Get a guy with a track record of quality offense in here. Both those guys have that.

My guess

Hagan: stay on staff or office
Chev: due to his current position he may leave for USC to be with his former HC or another college

My hope
Cris Naeole on staff.

To be fair, that was a tough job this season and I am pretty sure they had multiple QBs lost to injury.

I would be much more concerned he has now been the OC/QB at four different P5 schools in six seasons. That is not normal.

plus the whole Durkin thing in general, and he was HC, but yeah. Wasn't LSU pretty meh with him as OC too?

I knew someone that played for him at LSU and said that he was awesome, but the problem was Coach O who hated Canada and tried to micromanage what he was doing. I'm not saying that he is the perfect coach, but it sounds like he should get the benefit of the doubt with the LSU situation from what I have heard.

What I keep hearing about Canada is that he's hard to work with in terms of his peers on the staff. May be that he's better off in a HC role where it's completely his show? I don't know. Talented guy, though.

can you imagine getting micromanaged by O, though? You don't even understand half of what he's saying. You probably end up taking a 50/50 shot if he was wanting you to run the ball or pass it

From what I was told it was a very weird situation between them, apparently, every time Canada was talking to the offense O would just glare at him with a crazy look on his face.
