'19 TNFR TE Jalen Harris (SIGNED to COLORADO)

Here is some color that I got from some strolling around Auburn boards.

First, they hate Gus Malzahn.

Ok, now that’s out of the way, on to what I read about Jalen Harris. He was getting playing time and it was not a case where he was recruited over. Much like our FHCMM, Gus does not use the TE position in his offense. It is a “hand in the dirt” blocking TE role, with few opportunities to catch the ball. This transfer decision is all about trying to showcase himself in another offense. CU is an excellent choice, given the roster makeup with Pop coming off injury and Brady Russell being undersized. General consensus is that Jalen said all the right things before and after his transfer, and is an excellent locker room guy

Jalen is a big TE that is solid in blocking which should help the run game immensely next year. His pass catching skills are a bit of an unknown, but that’s mostly a function of the Auburn offense.

TL;DR version: Excellent grad transfer in a position of need, no red flags.

Boy ol Boy! This is what we needed in a BIG way. Welcome to Colorado Young BUFF!

I had to add to this - I am really excited about this transfer. Not only is it a huge positional need, but we are getting a guy with SEC work habits, experience and expectations. This will spread throughout the locker room and will be a huge benefit also.

GO BUFFS!!

2 years?

Jalen Harris - TE - Buffaloes
Junior TE Jalen Harris has transferred from Auburn to Colorado.
Harris (6'4/254) will have two years of eligibility left because he took a redshirt season in 2018, and he'll be eligible to play immediately for the Buffaloes because he's leaving as a graduate. He wasn't a big part of the offense for Auburn in his time there, leaving with just four catches for 43 yards. He could see more targets for Colorado, and he's also viewed as a solid blocker who had interest from Georgia and Vanderbilt as a transfer.

OP has been edited to "2 years to play 2".

I double-checked his ESPN stats and he played 2016, 2017 and 2018. But with 2018 being a redshirt year and him graduating, this does make him immediately eligible with 2 years to play.

He played in 2015. He was a class of 2015 guy and was a SR this year and his Instagram states he will transfer as a 5th year graduate.

This is super underrated, but I love this guy for the blocking and the additional redzone option.

Anytime you get a grown man like this who wants one year to prove he is NFL worthy is a good thing for our offense.

Agreed. This is a big signing considering our TE use and recruiting has been a damn dumpster fire. To get a guy that's been underutilized but has good talent/pedigree could be a coup for us as we start to backfill the position with younger players.
