'19 OK WR Demariyon Houston (Signed to Nebraska)

Another Mtn circular argument.
Martinez is very good at both run and pass. Really good for a true Frosh. CU fans don't want to hear that, but it's undeniable.
Frost will be lighting up teams for a lot of points with Martinez.
If their D improves, they'll start to be a lot better, maybe never top 10 good, but good.

Houston has some risks that caused many programs to back away is what I'm hearing. CU cancelled his visit here.
He's electric, so if he can get to Lincoln and stick, he will be a pretty good playmaker, and Frost has added plenty of those.

They threw more this year than they wanted to because Martinez was out much of the season with an owwie and they didn't have a backup who could run the stuff they wanted to run so they threw more.

You are right in that they won't be completely run oriented, Frost was pretty balanced at UCF and part of why he went all in on Martinez is because he can run and throw.

What a WR isn't going to get at kNU though is much that resembles a pro type passing attack. They are not going to run the kind of routes and make the adjustments that guys will learn at most other modern college systems.

I also am willing to predict that Martinez is going to continue to miss a lot of games in his career at kNU. The offense is going to expose him to a lot of clean hits (which the fans will consider dirty when he gets hurt) and his running style has him regularly twisting and struggling for more yardage which will end up with him getting bent directions the human body shouldn't go.
I am with you that I think any kid that chooses the N should get his head checked, but I don't think the NFL really cares where you play college ball. D. Thomas was a bronco 1st round pick at WR from option oriented GA Tech. John Mobley was a st round pick as a LB out of Kutztown, and I think Andre Reed, also from Kutztown, is in the hall of fame. And I am sure Marv wasn't running the same offense as Kutztown. Talent gets drafted, and usually potential over production (one of the reasons the Broncos were so lucky to end up the Phil). Just my 2 cents.

That’s my mistake. Didn’t realize Morgan got over. So the season leader for rec yds by a wr in the history of the program is 1004.
More germaine, is that this was done in year 1 under Frost, and we should expect more passing in year 2 and forward. Martinez was a true freshman, and it was year 1 under Frost. Their offense is going to hum.

He's ,recruiting great too, hope to see the same from MT in year two.

No question Martinez is good at both, that is why he was critical for Frost to get to run the offense he wants to run. I wouldn't say he will be lighting teams up but when he is healthy he will be hard to deal with. I don't see the nubs getting good enough around him to dominate and as I mentioned I don't see him staying healthy.

Sure, guys get drafted out of G5 schools, D2 schools, and odd systems like GT.

D. Thomas got drafted as did Megatron out of GT but they were exceptional. Is it a system that will allow a guy who isn't exceptional to develop into a pro WR?

Agreed. Will note though, somehow Nebraska has continued to recruit well and maintain a reputation as a “big time” program despite their irrelevance for the past decade or so. Say all that to say Frost inherited some advantages there.

I guess that is the point I am making, in most cases professional sports franchises draft talent over production. And I further think when there is talent with less than expected production evaluators try to determine why. Same thing with significant production without a spectacular talent profile - is the guy an anomaly or is the production based on the system? I hate the N as much if not more than anyone, but to suggest playing ball there will hurt your chances at making it to the NFL is an opinion that I disagree with. Talent gets drafted, talent and effort makes it regardless of where it is from or how it looks or how it was utilized. That is my opinion.

They never hit the lows we hit, such as down by 59 vs Fresno State
