Alliance between Pac-12 and Big 12?

Playing a big time schedule builds your brand, when you aren't an Alabama type. McCartney, understood that. I don't think every non conference game should be a murderers row type, but it shouldn't be like McNeese State either.

I for one, would love the chance to beat the ever living **** out of Nebraska and the rest of the big 12. The Colorado Buffaloes will play any team (preferably P5, **** you mike fcs bohn) anywhere (prefably at Folsom.... for uhm obvious reasons).

Not sure I need Nebraska every year, but playing them regularly is a good idea.

I also like the idea of a rotating I-25 game each year, playing Wyoming, CSU, Air Force, UNM in cycles.

I used to like the I-25 idea. I want to see how the AFA game draws this year, though. WYO wasn't well attended when they visited and UNM didn't show up when we had them here for MBB. I'm questioning whether anyone besides CSU is actually a draw from among these schools.

I prefer it to playing a random pansy that has a city in its name.

Jesus, guys. How about we actually beat USC a time or two before we go around calling them our rival. It makes our fan base look desperate to say **** like that.

Plus we already have a hated rival in Nebraska. I don’t know how you guys felt, but when Viska came down with that ball for the game winning score last year, it was the best feeling I’ve had as a Buff fan in quite awhile. To top it off, we got to hear their coaches and fans crying about being too rough with them and how we’re “cheaters”. Now they’re coming to Boulder this year and the game is already shaping up to be even chippier.

I’ll take that at least every other year over some pretend rival who we are 0-13 against.

Hard No. I'd rather play the Nubs every year in Lincoln than do this.

Sure! Why does the thought of it give most other CU fans spasms just thinking of the opportunity to play Nebraska? You can't be real.

Because this CU fan remembers how much fun going out there and ****ing in your cheerios was last September, dude. Your little ***** of a coach coached the Nubs for the first time and that hypocrite Tom Osborne went into your HoF that day-and we ruined it for you. I want you on the schedule as much as possible. See you in September. I'll have a piss balloon with your name on it. 33-28.

Aaah, Flounder, How does an alliance with the Big 12 get us closer to playing Nebraska every year since they are now in the Big X? I can understand the confusion though since neither conference can count.

Nebraska is just CSU on steroids (was literally in their heyday). Would like to see them on the schedule occasionally. But then, I don't feel the hate much of this board has.

I actually like the idea because I think it increases the level of play in the PAC-12 which is a distant 5th in terms of quality IMHO. Having OU come in and kick some ass would be a nice wake up call.

I think the great crowds we've seen for other games is gonna make this happen. USC vs UT series was a monster, but even ASU vs TTU drew a ton of interest. In an era of declining attendance and increasing pressure from the networks for your conference to deliver compelling games, I think a scheduling agreement has a good chance of happening in some form.

Good points

Also wonder if it gives both conferences a better argument for not being left out of the playoff which has happened to each in recent years.

**** the Big 12. I want absolutely nothing to do with any of them. If our coaches just take care of business and win on a consistent basis, we will not need to schedule those mouth-breathing, ****ed up dick heads in Texas. Same for the Oklahoma schools.

Same for Cornholio and CSU. Neither of those games do as much for us as it does for the other school.

Whatever they do, it absolutely has to be tied to P12 net. They absolutely have to bring some better content to that network.

If they can consistently have PAC12 and Big 12 content on there then it may manage to make the network viable in the Big XII footprint including the Texas market. That may be enough to push more national providers to carry it.

CSU for sure, but I have no idea where this strange attitude toward Nebraska comes from. As a CU fan, how can you not want to watch them play Nebraska? Also, how can you say that game doesn’t do as much for CU as it does for NU?

I’ll say it- for the first few years I thought being in the PAC was a great fit and was excited about it. But it’s now at the point where there’s fan apathy across the conference and we’re being passed up by the other 4 conferences monetary wise.

Culturally the PAC is a good fit, but they just do not take football as seriously out west.

Having said that, if Tucker can bring the SEC mindset to CU, we have a chance at really dominating a weak conference.

You are right here. Playing Nebraska means a full stadium at either location, it means that we get national attention and a degree of respect nationally when we win. As much as we hate them it gets our alumni and donors attention.

Don't know that you can say any of those on a comparable basis for playing CSU.

I hate Nebraska and want to beat them. Play CSU and I know we should beat them. Whole different thing.

Cornholio recruits Colorado, we do not recruit Nebraska. My conclusion has nothing to do with comparative team strength. We don't need to showcase them to Colorado kids.

This was discussed thoroughly, our new beloved coach has wisely moved us on to USC! No more need for Nebraska. It is an unhealthy old rivalry that had a purpose to help us get better and win the Big 8-Big 12, and is no longer needed. We must focus on USC and try and beat them FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!! Playing Texas schools is the best option ever, so honestly I am somewhat a bigger fan of a run at Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Houston!!! Big Pac 16. Playing Iowa State, Baylor, K-State and Kansas does absolutely nothing for us!!!

Completely agree on the bolded part but the Nebraska rivalry initiated by coach Mac was one of the key factors in the program's rise to national prominence in the late 80's. Last season's win in Lincoln was one of the biggest and most emotional wins for CU since...well, our days in the Big 12.

We need to recruit Texas to win on a consistent basis-hence the need for the games against Houston, A&M, and TCU. The Colorado State series needs to die. Permanently. I don't want to play them at all after next year. If we can't get that game on an ESPN or FOX channel (2017 was on P12N, last year CBSSN) there's zero point in it. As far as playing Nebraska, the only three games that top that win LY in the Pac 12 era were Stanford, Wazzu, and Utah in 2016 in terms of how big it was. I don't think we can play them every year, but I think we can definitely do 2 for 2's with them every ten years. Took one game for our kids (who were eight the last time we played them) to understand how big the Nebraska rivalry is. I'll take any chance at national television we can get, and we were on ABC in the middle of the day for that one. I get they recruit Colorado, but the rewards outweigh the risks there.

Tell that to Bill McCartney at the start of his tenure about Nebraska.

reading this thread, I was recollecting back to the last time the XII looked at expansion and how CSU and AFA were both part of the final cut before the plug was pulled on that.

I wonder if continuing to improve relationships with both schools is a smart idea -- if the XII did expand in the future to include either, the relationship would become incredibly more valuable, especially in context of the long lead times we see in P5 football w/r/t scheduling P5 OOC opponents.
