Official Spring Practices Thread

I'm starting to think he'll be an OT his whole time here unless he and Moretti end up swapping. My reasoning is that the young talent seems to be more at OG with guys like Ray and Roddick who are very unlikely to ever play OT.

A real possibility.

Having a quality Interior OL two deep of Moretti, Sherman, Pursell, Lynott, Ray, Roddick, and new Poly kid is what Kap and MT need to strive for as the norm going forward. Obviously, as you alluded to, CU is not currently in the position for that to happen, but hopefully by the time Moretti and Sherman are Juniors or Seniors, OT recruiting will be at a level where that's the case.

HCMT seems very deliberate and focused right now. Very light on both praise and criticism at this point. Everything is about working your ass off and seeing what type of team comes out the other end of it. Even-keeled without much joking around or blood pressure spikes during his post-practice interviews.

I sure hope that no matter what issues might arise with this team that the one thing we can say is that we've got a disciplined team that fights and never turtles in the moment. Regardless of talent or record, I can always cheer hard for teams that have that sort of character & culture.

Good to see Sami with some bend in those knees. A healthy Sami is key..

If Sami can control the center point of attack, that's the foundation of an effective 3-4 defense. If we don't get that, it will force us to stunt, gamble and try to cover deficiencies with scheme (which will bite us in the ass). One of the big keys to this season.

I totally get closing practices in a HC’s first year. Why give your first couple of opponents anything to look at?

Also, hope Stenstrom's injury is not serious. Not good for him to be missing those reps.

Any word on attrition? I pointed out the DL photo is missing Terriek Roberts, but that doesn't mean he's gone.

I try to avoid being a cynic, but it usually doesn't work. To that end, I think counting on Moretti ever playing meaningful snaps is a fools errand at this point. Unfortunately it seems he has been saddled with an injury that makes playing football a difficult, if not impossible, proposition. I hope he beats the odds and has a couple of great years at CU. But pragmatically, I think it is more realistic to look at who else will fill out the depth chart.

The sooner they cut him and free up the scholarship the better.

I'm not gonna say Moretti can't. They can do a hell of a lot more now than what used to be the case. Plus, some heal at a different rate than others. We shall see, hope the best for him.

Who is the tall white kid with his helmet on, #2-something?

Carson Wells? Looks taller than 6'4 (esp if Lang is 6'7) and thicker than the 245 listed on the roster.
