Did you know that without any incremental cost to you, a small percentage of your purchases on Amazon create a donation to the charity of your choice?

Yes, this is a real thing!

Did you know that all you have to do is take 2-3 minutes to register and select your charity of choice from this link with instructions? Going forward, you just bookmark smile.amazon.com instead of going straight to amazon.com. That's it! The rest will happen automatically.

My purchases through Amazon have generated $200+ of donations to the University of Colorado Foundation (UCF). UCF has received $905 total since becoming available through Smile Amazon.

That tells me there is SIGNIFICANT opportunity for more.

If you already are registered with Smile Amazon with UCF or another worthy charity, please keep doing so and thank you!

If you have not registered, can you consider taking a moment to do so? UCF is one great option, but there are many others out there.

This is the end of today's public service announcement.

Yea, well I have generated a whopping $5.84 of that $905.65 through 20 orders ...
Seriously, how much do you spend on Amazon to have generated over 1/5 of the total contributions??

My wife and I have generated over $300 for our charities - that's what happens when you do it for a few years (it doesn't tell you when you signed up, but we're well over 600 orders with it).

Pro tip: if you use chrome as your browser install "smile always" - it redirects your browser to any amazon link you click to the smile version, it also redirects if you type in an amazon url and forget to put smile in it. Someone wrote an extension for Firefox that's supposed to do the same thing, but it doesn't actually work...

We hit 150 orders with Amazon pretty consistently each year. Much of it smaller stuff. Since they now hit me with sales tax, I'll get bigger things locally just in case I have to return something.

I'm at $47.64 on 181 orders. 0.5% of eligible orders isn't much but it's still money going to the University from junk I was going to buy regardless.

I've generated $153.75 for my charity.

I have lots of orders that didn't go through smile and I don't catch it till it is too late. I'm getting better.

Yeah. We buy pretty much everything through Amazon Smile. I think our 4th quarter giving through that program to our son's school was around $160.

I continue to be shocked at how little the CU Foundation is getting from Amazon. CU is getting next to nothing out of $217 million Amazon donated to charity.

If you use the Amazon mobile app as I do, please go to settings>>Amazon Smile>>turn on notifications>>select charity as University of Colorado Foundation.

It’s that simple.

Oh, and our Amazon Smile donates to where my wife works. Who knows, maybe someday it'll result in her getting a raise.
