Official Spring Practices Thread

Don’t underestimate Broncos fans who just want to see Phil. But 3K would make me happy because it means I get to see Phil.
I feel like that’s right around what we typically have, maybe a little more. I think Tucker, some of the former players, and the promotion of it gets a better turnout.

QB looks okay. RB seems to be improved. WR looks really good. TE looks sketchy. No clue on OL.

DL will have some depth issues, but the front seven should be solid to good. ILB is looking really good. Secondary has issues.

Kicking game should be good.

What about game day coaching? Surely must be vastly improved.

I was pleased with the RB especially Mangham. Joe Davis was good as well. I think it's about safe to assume that the starting RB is going to be a freshman.

Montez just has to get used to having TEs as actual receiving targets so there's the summer session to get acclimated with those TEs.

I liked seeing those four DL fronts for a change but like DC Summers said...too many points given up. I'm concerned about the secondary...hopefully summer help comes in.

I will not be satisfied until I see videos of the OL pushing the Oldsmobile around like it's nothing.

And I'm going to start the kool-aid drinking right now: CU will open 4-1 with the lone loss being in Tempe.

When I was at CU, I would not have been in line do a Qdoba card and a popsicle at 10:00 AM. I would have have been at king supers eating 10 cent hotdogs before the liguormart run.

Oh man, ate a lot of King Soopers 10 cent hotdogs!!

TE.... Jalen Harris is a physical specimen but is A JAG in the passing game. No feel for getting open. Brady is actually a better catcher. Jones is invisible. We will use the TE, but the position is a talent problem in a big way

I'm undecided. Montez was so bad today and kept throwing the ball behind the receiver. It is hard to tell if they are open when they have to stop their route to reach back for the ball, which allows the defense to catch up.

Finally watched it. Montez looked disinterested.

Give him a break. He had a lot on his mind about his evening festivities.

What was the official attendance?

**Hot take alert**

Lots of talk from Mel Talker since he got here, what was the product on the field? I continue to feel after reading between the lines that this staff is a bunch of guys that are products of great systems, and great programs rather than any innate ability. These guys came waltzing into Boulder acting like god's gift, and from what I saw, this is the same bottom dweller team. How does the D give up that many points? Did you see ole D coordinator's post game deer in the headlights interview? Walked out with his tail between his legs. Montez looking disinterested?? Bad look for Tucker. I saw someone predict coming out 4-1...eek thats as wrong as congratulating #2 Nick Bosa on twitter.

Got that off my chest, pass the kool-aid.

You're not going to learn anything in a spring game, idot.

You can learn depth is a real issue at several units and that summer help is needed, quickly.
Idot's specifically trying to slam the new staff, not asking about player issues which were known in advance. You can see who's in good condition, not much more in a vanilla game short on DL.

I think the Spring Game played out about as expected. Our 1s are fairly even offense and defense. But I think our Offense is significantly deeper especially at the WR position, but also on the Lines (which is admittedly not good). Having a guy like Arias or Bell matched up on our 5th DB is unfair. Those guys would start at a lot of places. I was surprised that I don't remember a single snap under center. Rumors were that would happen close to 50% of the time.

Other encouraging things:
RB looks to be ok talent wise
Lytle and Noyer both impressive
Offense had throws to the middle of the field and TE

Discouraging:
Montez general struggles in Spring Games continue
Montez still seems to always go to his first read
Defense depth (or lack of) is scary

First team OL was:
Sherman, Roddick, Lynott, Kutsch, Shutack, left to right.

With the kid coming in from Okie State, does he replace our best young lineman in Sherman? Does Sherman move?

The 2nd unit was Vaughn, Johnson, Paige, Sauvao, Ray, L to R

Nothing like that depth chart posted above.
