Who is attending the Spring Scrimmage (game) on April 27?

I’ll be very curious to see if he can coach having the heart of a buffalo. Can’t remember which opposing coach it was, but he said that they hit Sefo time after time and he kept getting back up. Could not have been more complimentary.

From Wilner's Pac-12 Hotline newsletter today on spring game attendance:

Here are the Pac-12 crowd counts, taken from media and school reports. Many are estimates, which is standard for spring games across the country.
35,000: Oregon
7,550: Colorado
6,313: Utah
5,059: Washington State
5,000: Arizona
4,200: Arizona State
2,500: Oregon State
2,500: Stanford
2,000: USC
1,500: Cal
(No attendance reported: UCLA and Washington.)

With proper promotion and some effort to make it an event worth attending there is no reason that we can't regularly see 15-20k. Much worse things in life than spending a spring Saturday at Folsom watching guys practice football.

In the process it would become a great opportunity to sell or upgrade season tickets, promote spring sports, create awareness of some of the notable non-athletic things happening on campus, solidify relations with some donors, and more. All while impressing potential recruits and rewarding the players for a strong spring.

Fan indifference at our CA schools is a death blow to our conference if it continues. Stanford's its own thing, but USC-UCLA-Cal need to get fixed.

The CA schools are key but most of PAC12 is pathetic. The conference is in a death spiral financially and athletically, and has been for a while. The financial problems are well documented elsewhere in this medium. Fixing the apathy that plagues the conference won’t be easy and it may be too late given the financial cluster going on.

It's not going to change. The fans in the Pac 12 footprint have different priorities. I appreciate that, honestly.

USC, not long ago, drew over 20k to its spring games and over 85k to its home games. So I don't believe it's a hopeless case by any stretch. I don't think that there are fewer fans in the west. What I think is that in the west a lot more of us take the attitude that we've got better things to do with our time when the teams we like are inept or are playing an uninteresting opponent. Less of our personal identities are tied to our sports teams, in general. Particularly our college sports teams. Similar to the northeast in a lot of respects. Syracuse, Boston College and Rutgers have a lot in common with the Pac-12.

USC needs to fire Helton and make a splash hire (Urban Meyer), and Chip Kelly needs to get UCLA to an Oregon level of competitiveness. Those two things happen and there will be some serious renewed interest IMO

Very true. Happens to all sports in Colorado outside of the Broncos.
