Is it possible we have two Roddicks? If not, he must be incredible for this configuration to work.

Again and again, Purcell won’t be a starter by game 4. Maybe not game 1.

We will see.
I expect you will be proven wrong.

Purcell was good last season in his technique. Problem was he lacked some strength. Fully expect an off-season of S&C to make a big difference there.

Lacked strength. Marginal pass blocker. Couldn’t handle mass. Not fast enough to cut off ILBs. Young. Learning line calls. Missed out on key parts of install. Behind. Lynott wants to play.

Love Lynotts grit and determination but I think you are looking for excuses to put him at center.

Purcell was a freshman starting in the PAC12. Yes he lacked strength but it wasn't like he was a D2 guy out there, He wasn't far off. A year of S&C can easily close the gap he needs to compete effectively.
You talk about not fast enough to cut off ILBs, keep in mind that Lynott on his ankle is much slower and less mobile that Pursell.
Also keep in mind that they tried Lynott at center and not only did he have serious problems with snap mechanics (for a team that will be in shotgun most of the time you don't want snaps to be an adventure) but he struggled with making the calls.

Lynott, if he comes in reasonably healthy in the ankle should be on the field a lot as a guard but I would be shocked if a healthy Pursell isn't our starting center not only this year but the following year.

Game grades were sub-par. We’ll see what happens.

Man this is killing me but, I gotta go with hawg on this one. lol I think Lynott is our center this year, doesn't mean I think Purcell won't play on the line this year just not our starting center. Tim looked very comfortable and it's obvious he's put in a lot of time this off season working on being a center. That's good for him and great for the buffs.

He was forceful and in charge of the calls. Low center of gravity. Bigger, again.

Not sure why Lynott at center over Pursell seems to bother certain posters so much. It's clear this staff likes him at Center or he wouldn't be running with the ones and seemingly the only staple in the o-line shuffle throughout spring ball.

Not a problem with Lynott if him starting at center is the best combination. Problem comes with people who want to dismiss Pursell based on his performance last season.

People forget that he was a freshman starting in a P5 conference. Yes he lacked strength but he is young enough that that can and will change with work. They have played Lynott at center before, he is much better at guard (much, much better.)

There is also a simple reason why Lynott was the guy at center in spring. Pursell was out with a brace on his knee and we don't have anyone else who is a legitimate option there at the moment.

If it turns out that the OL is best with Lynott at center then that is how it should be, it just doesn't make any sense to just to that conclusion until we see what happens in fall. I very much hope that Lynott is competitive at center because it means that his ankle has improved significantly over what it has been the last couple years.

Tim will be a center if he makes it in the league and he looked much, much better at center this spring then Pursell has showed yet. Seeing as we have an actuall line coach now and hopefully more depth, maybe we won't have to throw a youngster in before they're ready. Colby hasn't had a chance to really show us his talent due to the last staff, he may end up being a monster for the buffs and I hope he does.
