CU DT QB

Bernard was a running back that took snaps from center. He wasn't even close to a college level passer.

Hawkins still messed him over but he wasn't a dual thread because nobody was afraid of him as a passer.
He never threw the ball and the only receiver he had was Patrick Williams who dropped everything in front of him. Bnard was sick AF and instant offense when got scrub playing time was a 4 star dual threat qb on rivals and never got an opportunity cause Cody came DONT confuse history and your unbridled love for Dan Talkins

You must be confused if you think I have love for D2 Danny as a coach, they guy who placed his son going into the record books ahead of winning games.

That said Bernard was a great athlete but no he wasn't an college level passer, his passing skills were a joke. He couldn't even become an effective passer when he went to D2 at Pueblo, and don't care about the stars out of HS he never turned into a college passer.

Scrub playing time? He started 11 games in 2006 and was awful. Like throwing into the stands awful.

I think you have the confused history.

If I were ranking CU quarterbacks that started at least five games, Bernard Jackson would rank dead last.

He was so good that when he flunked out of CU, he transferred to D2 CSU-Pueblo where they promptly converted him to a wide receiver.

Lewis appears to be pass-first, with the capability to run, at least from the HUDL. In that respect, his film reminded me a lot of Russell Wilson, including his height and build. Wilson is listed at 5'11" and I'd guess that Lewis is closer to 6'0" than he's listed. A lot of tools to work with there. Not a lot of film showing him hanging in the pocket under pressure, or finding a 2nd option, but that's high school QB'ing. When he does leave the pocket, he's looking for a receiver to come open. Very intriguing.

Agree w/Holic about Lewis as a pass-first guy. The term Dual Threat seems to cast a pretty wide net and gets applied to anyone who is not a statue. I believe Sefo and Montez were both DT guys.

Russel Wilson is a pretty good take but Wilson looks quicker/more shifty. Lewis' running style looks more Donavan McNabb but I think Lewis is a much smoother passer. I love his accuracy.

He measured 6'2" at a Nike regional camp.

I think you'd have to say Kordell. I don't think we saw Hansen enough to know whether he was a dual threat type, no where near the level Kordell was, regardless. Hansen was athletic enough to make some plays with his legs, though.

Bernard Jackson started 10 games in 2006 when cody was redshirting and was utterly terrible. He then proceeded to end his college career by committing armed robbery against his regular pot dealer.

So, regardless of dan hawkins, bernard jackson got every opportunity to succeed and ****ed it up both on and off the field.

Edit: my apologies, I posted before I saw that somebody else had already pointed out the obvious fact that bernard jackson was horrible. Nonetheless, it bears repeating that the only reason that bj saw the field was that brian white was a big baby and that james cox had the arm of a middle-aged home ec teacher, and that having a starting qb with a close relationship with a pot dealer was a big reason why we went 2-10 in 2006.

Yes and no. DII Dan and staff were incapable of tailoring the offense (and defense) to the talents of CU's athletes. BJax (yes, we called him that) could've been more useful if the coaching brain trust allowed him to do the things he was best at, instead of just running the Cody offense.

I remember when BJax was kicked off the team my sophomore year. I had no idea it was for armed robbery against his rug dealer. I keep coming to Allbuffs for insider information like this.

You've done a public service, good sir.
