**** bailer!

Title IX and the Cleary Act apparently don’t have teeth. Laws are only as good as the enforcement mechanism.

As the Big 12 is complicit in preferring to look tough without actually doing anything material.

Baylor and other private schools should be subject to freedom of information act requirements in exchange for conference membership and federal grants and scholarship payments by now.
Exactly. If they want the money, they need to have the same level of transparency and accountability on these things. This will not change under the current DC leadership (DeVoss is taking things the other way - limiting exposure even for public institutions), but I'm hopeful that public pressure moves us in the direction of protecting women and strongly discouraging coverups.

Not just DeVos. Title IX was enacted by Congress, who could amend the law if they cared more about the safety of college students. Not holding my breath.

Kinda like you put a coach on admin leave while investigating, I don't know how they continue to function at this point, especially while law enforcement is doing its thing.

Ohio State and Baylor are different situations-The only person involved in the OSU thing who might face legal issues is Zach Smith. What Urban may be in trouble for are title 9 and OSU's sexual misconduct policy violations.

Won't happen. It was Joe Biden's main project at the end of the last administration. If Obama/Biden were for it, the GOP is automatically against it (at least the Trumpists who currently hold sway). I'm hopeful that will change. I would think this is an issue that has bi-partisan consensus from the public, if not from our representatives.

Not sure safety for college students will be much of a campaign issue this year beyond gun control.

If any current politician is championing T9 reform, I hope someone calls that out.

Apparently the buck stops with those Baylor donors who have a conscience.
