**** bailer!

Sad thing is that there are school administrators who think having a winning football coach is more important than the message sent by the character of the person they hire.

Just surprises me that the school that ended up hiring him wasn't one of those "Christian" schools that believes in spreading the word of the Lord by recruiting better players and destroying teams on the scoreboard (yes Valor, I'm talking about you.)

Winning matters, even at the high school level winning matters. It also matters though to attempt to win in the right way. What are we teaching out kids when our actions say win at all cost.

Not even CU’s Regents would have signed off on that bad hire.

Everything you say is true. But this is Texas we’re talking about, they’re well known for their obsessiveness of high school sports.

Some of my Texas friends (and they are football obsessed) have been posting about this and the general feeling is outrage. If I were a Mount Vernon parent, I'd be organizing some kind of protest (but there will be plenty of parents that love Briles, I'm sure - especially in the part of Texas where it's located).

"There were 22 Ivy League players on N.F.L. rosters at the start of the season, including eight from Harvard, the most of any F.C.S. school (and one more than Baylor, a Football Bowl Subdivision team)." Bailer is a glorified FCS bible college

Sometimes I forget about this thread, and then I see a new post on it, and I'm like OH YEAH, **** BAILER
I never forget this thread

One of my (now former) co-workers never understood my **** bailer hate, no matter how much I tried to convince him

The players were ruled to have moved into the district for athletic purposes.

But it may not be so straightforward.

Because of exceptions that are allowed in the UIL's constitution -- such as the DEC's previous ruling that the two Mount Vernon players were eligible -- forecasting the final ruling is tricky.

It is unclear how many games the players in question played. Mount Vernon plans to contact the UIL on Wednesday to begin the appeal process, McCullough said in a statement.

Briles was also publicly reprimanded by the committee for using an assistant coach who wasn't a full-time employee of the district, also a violation of UIL rules.
