Official ****braska Hate Thread

With all the leftover Nebraska players on the OSU roater. It's too bad CU doesn't have both Nebraska and Oregon State on the 2019 football schedule. Buff fans would've had the chance for two whole orgasms this year. Oh well. The opportunity of maybe having one will have to do.

I'm sure Husker fans are looking forward to seeing if a former Husker QB will start for CSU as well.

But it doesn't change what happened in this play:

I really doubt any former huskers in Corvallis are truly passionate about their former team in Lincoln.

Who did this? :ROFLMAO:

Getting an idea that the fuskers after spending a whole year being reminded of how badly Viska destroyed them are going to put a huge focus on stopping him.

Unfortunately for them he is one of those transcendent talents so he will still get his but the distortion to the defense is going to allow some other Buffs to go out and destroy the Corn this year.

The “it’s everyone else, we’re totally cool” mentality exposes the nub lack of emotional intelligence and self awareness. ****, just admit your state’s infinite weakness and go on from there.

Oh, I'm fully aware of the series w/l record. Now go find something worth posting. Don't be such an Iowa fan. If that's possible?

I just like Iowa's colors, they are quite good nowadays at trolling though. Iowa's run game neutralizes the high powered Nebraska offense and Frosty is wondering if coming to the Big 10 was the right use of his skills. Took 5 Million reasons to get ran over by the next great Iowa Running Back..

TLDR TLDR TLDR NOT WORTH READING PREVIEW

QB: Adrian Martinez is really good. He’s getting comparisons to Mahomes because of his footwork, creativity, escapability, etc. He’s also getting some early Heisman hype, which is probably fair. It sounds like he still makes some pretty dumb throws when he’s trapped in the pocket. Spring didn’t go as pretty as they hoped for Martinez due in large part to some weaknesses at skill positions.

RB: Spring was really rough here, especially due to Maurice Washington’s legal issues keeping him out of camp for stretches. I thought this was easily their weakest position before last year, but Devine Ozigbo ended up having a really good season and completely carried them on his back. He’s gone now tho. Their only other scholarship RB available in the Spring was Jaylin Bradley, a player who was their lowest rated ‘17 recruit (Riley’s RB coach was basically Jeffcoat) and was easily and quickly passed up for reps. Walk-ons get more snaps than Bradley does and he’d likely already be an attrition candidate if he wasn’t born in Nebraska. It doesn’t help that an ‘18 JUCO RB (who vaulted to the #1 spot on the depth chart) enrolled in the spring last year and left by the end of it.

They do add the #1 JUCO RB, Dedrick Mills, for fall camp. He miraculously got qualified late, which might be why his only reported offers were Nebraska and Arkansas State. They also add their highest rated ‘19 recruit, Wandale Robinson, the APB from Kentucky who all the Nebraska fans accused of receiving money when he initially committed to Kentucky. They have another ‘19 RB who won’t be on campus until late due to academic issues, but he wasn’t expected to be an immediate impact player anyway. My understanding is that their ideal offense will have both Wandale and Maurice Washington in the backfield at the same time a lot (with Wandale being a flex) so it’s easy to see why the spring didn’t go as planned. Still, they’re relying solely on 2 fall arrivals, in an offense that has tripped up a lot of newcomers, and a returning RB who hasn’t had his legal issues settled yet. This would probably be the biggest question mark on the team if not for WR.

WR: Woof, you know it’s questionable when even the homer writers are nervous. They lose the always reliable Stanley Morgan, Jr. They return JD Spielman, an excellent route running 5’8” WR who always finds ways to be open. He’s having some pretty serious concussion issues unfortunately, and they’ve been having to keep him off the field some. They added grad transfer Kanawai Noa from Cal because it was basically Spielman and a walk-on getting all the production in spring. APB Wandale Robinson will be a flex WR. They have two ‘18 JUCOs who have done absolutely nothing to earn PT, sounds like they’re both struggling with the playbook. And then a 4* Riley WR, Jaevon McQuitty, who everyone expected to explode in this offense is a likely attrition candidate as his name has not been mentioned at all in camp reports. They add a couple other solid ‘19 WRs so maybe fall will be different. Still, a ton of question marks and it sounds like all the small WRs are once again giving them issues in the RZ.

TE: Jack Stoll has looked pretty good in the offense. They have a 6’8” TE named Austin Allen who is a bit awkward and struggles but they do complete a jump ball to him every now and then. Solid group all things considered but the offense still hasn’t been particularly efficient when targeting TEs (they only caught 5 of 13 targets in the spring game for example).

OL: No idea what to think of this group. The OTs are pretty solid and look much better in a run blocking offense compared to Riley’s pass heavy offense. LT Brendan Jaimes is their best lineman, who struggles a bit as he’s more of a natural RT but plays LT out of necessity. Their 2nd best lineman is RT Matt Farniok, who struggles a bit because he’s more of a natural OG, but plays RT out of necessity. Starting OG, Boe Wilson, is a solid 6th man type but struggles when forced to play starters snaps. Nebraska’s biggest weakness, by far, is at C. Projected starting C, ‘18 Cam Jurgens, was a TE/OLB in HS. Frost sees NFL potential at C (and they’re desperate to fill a massive hole there) so they rushed to get 70lbs added to him so that he could play right away. As a result, there are rumors that he’s been battling pretty serious foot injuries (Frost does not report injuries). They believe Jurgens will be ready in camp but he was having issues adjusting to the position even when he was healthy. The backup C has been having snap issues as well as struggling to block. The 247 writers have been RAVING about the DL and a couple insiders are saying to pump the brakes a bit because a lot of it has been whoever lines up over C dominating the point of attack there and everything going to ****.

DL: This is supposed to be the biggest strength on the team (outside of Martinez), but it does sound like brakes need to be pumped on the HYPE. DE Ben Stille is their best DL and is really good. Damion Daniels’ older brother, Darrion, grad transferred in from Oklahoma State and is projected to be the starter over him. Sounds like this works great for Damion as well, who really struggles playing a lot of snaps due to his conditioning. One of their prized ‘19 recruits was 4* JUCO transfer Jahkeem Green, who isn’t on campus yet and never signed with them officially. He’s taking visits right now lol. Someone on 247 suggested (as is common) that he must be leaving because he saw the depth chart and is worried he wouldn’t play but a 247 writer shot that down quickly and said this would be a big blow to lose him. Still, they have some decent depth and good size here, will be a good first test for our OL.

OLB: Sounds like another area of weakness, or at least a major question mark. They got virtually no pressure from their edge rushers last year and it doesn’t sound like it was all that improved through spring. Domann is projected to be a starter here after finally moving from safety and getting healthy. Sounds like he is technically sound in every way here, and is a player they trust, but he doesn’t add a ton in terms of rushing the QB. They were hopeful that Caleb Tannor would set himself apart here but it sounds like the lightbulb hasn’t come on yet for him. Tyrin Ferguson does pretty well in run support but also struggles at rushing the QB. They’re hoping that Sr Alex Davis can finally put it all together as the other projected starter.

ILB: Mo Barry is their leading tackler and a really good LB. This position has been hammered by attrition tho and I’m not entirely sure they have a reliable 2nd starter. JUCO Will Honas is likely to be the starter. He played some last year before suffering a season ending ACL injury. My understanding is that he’s a heat seeking missile who makes a ton of tackles because he’s pretty reckless, but that recklessness also leads to him getting targeted a lot by opposing offenses because he’s always breaking his assignment in order to make a superstar play. Sounds like he struggles with the playbook and would ideally be more of a rotation player if the coaches could afford it. They’re hoping Collin Miller can take over the 2nd starting spot to make that happen. Miller has gone from DL to OLB to now ILB and it sounds like the writers are uneasy to say it’s been a completely smooth transition. After these 3, it’s 2 incoming freshmen.

CB: This was a decently improved group last year (hard not to be with how awful they were under Riley). Bootle transitioning from S to CB made a big difference since he actually played pretty well there. And perpetually roasted CB, Lamar Jackson, played slightly better under the new staff (although most of the plays he made came from badly thrown balls that he was beat on lol). It sounds like Cam Taylor is one to watch for and has forced himself onto the field in some kind of utility role.

S: This sounds a bit troublesome as well. They had a decent rotation of 3 safeties last year but all have moved on including Tre Neal who was a UCF transfer who was instrumental in helping guys learn the defense and their assignments last year. One position sounds mostly locked down but they have had trouble finding their other starter. Which makes it weird that two ‘18 safeties transferred away, crippling their depth. They add 4* Noa Pola-Gates in fall camp, who 247 rumors (probably out of bitterness) say was promised a starting role so maybe that’s a source of the frustration from the two transfers. Going from such an experienced group to question marks could be one of the biggest positional issues on the roster.

Basically, Adrian Martinez is incredible and will be expected to carry this team. Riley and Frost took a ton of risks and made a lot of sketchy promises to recruits that resulted in major attrition. There’s a lot of depth issues as a result but they’ve added some real nice speed. Will they win 9 and the division (or 11?!)? I am not sure I see it. If the OL gels, they get all the RBs they’re supposed to, and the DL is as good as advertised, then they will probably be pretty tough to beat this year and I expect 2020 to be an improved Huskers team that challenges for the division. Bill Connelly spent the entire CU article ripping us to shreds yet gave us a 47% chance of winning and that seems fair to me. I’m not scared of them.
