The Spring Evaluation Period starts today

What does all of this mean? Are we more active and/or better planned than the previous staff?

The proof will come on signing day, but there is definitely the appearance that more coaches are doing more recruiting than the last staff. The stuff from Chev was always there, but we are seeing stuff from pretty much every coach now. That’s encouraging.

Our El Paso recruiting foothold isn’t as strong this year, but I guess the coaches are doing pretty well overall in the recruiting front from the looks of it.

I am new to following recruiting, but now that we have a QB commit, is that the only one we will see for this class? Is it common for the other potential QBs to be uninterested in CU now?

Generally, teams only take one QB per class. Depending on the development of the backups this season, I could see the coaches grabbing a JUCO or grad transfer though.

We’re almost done with visits for the summer. Dead period starts the 24th and while we do see a lot of commits between now and the official start of the season/semester (September 1) when we can have OVs and go out to see recruits again, the focus of the coaches turns toward fall camp next week.

One thing ive noticed that impresses me about MTs staffs recruiting is we are frequently the first school to offer a prospect. But that is followed up with several big name schools offering that prospect.

Shows that they really know how to spot talent. With macintyre, when we were first to offer a prospect, they would then usually only get offers from non p5 schools, with the exception of defensive backs...

That is mostly a coincidental occurence more often than not.

This also gives the coaches a chance to reset some of the board. There should be new names popping up (including commits to other teams) over the next couple months. There are always some gains and losses to the commit list before signing day, flipping is just part of the recruiting game.

Lichtenhan makes No. 10. How many more scholarships do they give? There's 15 graduating, I see another 4 leaving early (Viska, Landman, Mustafa, and Stefanou) and then there's the yearly garden variety attrition (seems we average about 5 per year) making 24 total. That makes 14 more to go. Here's what'd make me happy:

- 3 more safetys (4 total).
- 2 more corners (4 total)
- 2 more WRs (3 total)
- 5 DL
- 1 TE (2 total)
- 1 Bad Mofo Edge Rusher

I figure we'll take right around a full class. Much more general attrition than you laid out but fewer guys turning pro early.
