Manning Passing Academy

i think it's Schemmel. i like Jerry. i used to listen to a lot of Nuggets games on the radio (when they were dreadful post Laphonzo and pre-the George Karl teams with Van Exel/Carmelo/Kmart). Jerry made it worthwhile.....good basketball call.

i'm not the biggest Mark Johnson fan but my complaints are more over-excitement on a 6 yard catch when it's 3rd and 10. I'm a stickler for down and distance on the radio. that's what i want to know. but MJ is fine....and to be fair, his tenure with CU hasn't been our best so i may be doing "transference" or whatever.

Is it ok that I like both Mark Johnson and Bill Walton? Neither is a cookie cutter corporate snooze fest. Both care deeply about the players, institutions and sports they cover. Both are mostly about the people.

I do understand why some people prefer a broadcaster who is more in the background and unobtrusively describes the action, occasionally dropping the info nugget when there's a lull. But I find that boring.

Zimmer always got the wrap of never telling the down and distance.

Somehow, through all of those years of listening to him, I could always follow the game and the damn down and distance. “Hatcher picks up 18 yards to the WSU 45 for a first down.”

Well, that told me that CU had a first down at the WSU 45. Made sense to me. I didn’t need my hand held to figure out that simple transaction.

Then... “It’s first and ten for CU, at the the WSU 45. Let’s see what they can do here...”

No... Larry Zimmer never did that.

You guys are so full of ****.

:D

The problem with mark johnson is not that he goes overboard. His problem is that he doesn't tell the listener what happens before going off on a tangent mid-sentence, which is a big problem for a play by play guy.
This is the only frustration people should have with MJ, IMO. Overbearing and Pretentious? I don't get that at all

Montez will be one of the top guys in the camp. I’m not sure how these camps work but he will be top 10.
