Eric Bien(i)emy's next job speculation, shut out again

In the post game there was all kinds of talk about Reid and his game plan and play calls. And he may deserve it all, I do not know. But the post game never mentioned EB as the guy making calls for Henne or any other part of the game. Just saying he is not getting much credit for anything that happens with the KC offense.
That’s because EB doesn’t deserve any credit. He has already been promoted to a level beyond where he is competent. If he does get a HC job, he will be two levels beyond his competency.

That's so ignorant (of the facts) that it clearly has another motivation - this guy is racist (and ignorant). I've never ignored someone after seeing 1 post before

There is no way they somehow forgot to mention EB. This was orchestrated by the nfl - trying to minimize the fallout when EB's passed over again

Oh please. EB was a decent position coach. That is his level of competence. It has nothing to do with his race. In contrast, Karl Dorrell can run an entire organization. You saw Dorrell’s competence this season, when he had the team ready to play despite the huge obstacles raised by COVID.

EB is not just a decent position coach, he is in my view one of the absolute best RB Coaches in either college or pro. As for your argument that his competence for running the entire offense himself, or running an entire organization is a matter of opinion at this point, and with what is trending, he either must go to another organization and run the offense and call the plays, or he needs to go back to college and run a program that way. I would suggest he go and be his own OC, and I would gladly take him in Denver as our OC

In addition to being “a decent position coach,” he’s the offensive coordinator for the defending super bowl champs, right?

Serious question - do you think Andy Reid is keeping EB around as his OC out of charity? Why would someone like Reid keep a guy in a job at “a level beyond where he is competent”?

No way! He has the skills to do the job, and Reid sees a bright future in him! If they call Andy Reid, I would be pretty sure he would provide a good reference.

Dude what, Andy Reid is not going to run anything like a charity case, come on!!!

It was a rhetorical question and was directed at the guy who thinks EB is already in a job he is unqualified for. I was curious how he would respond, but...

My bad, it's Monday and I am not on point. Kinda happy and sad for EB at this point. Winning Super Bowls is amazing, but being on that staff in these times is hard to maneuver your way into jobs

I could be wrong, but feels a little bit like Houston is trying to figure out the Watson situation before hiring a coach. I’m getting the sense they don’t really want to hire EB but would if it meant Watson stays and would be happy. If Watson is determined to leave, I think Houston hires someone other than EB but that’s purely my own speculation.

I love the thought of EB getting an NFL head coaching opportunity, but I kind of don’t want him to get the Houston job. This franchise is a complete mess and has been ever since the owner died and his kid took over. Any team that hires a new HC is struggling, but the Houston job seems like one that is doomed from the start for whoever takes it.

This is where I'm at. EB is involved in this offense - figuring out the other teams tendencies and weaknesses, and working up their set of situational plays.

That play card Reid has on the sidelines? EB has the same one in the coaches box. I'm sure he's communicating things he sees that Reid might not see at field level.

Reid has kept EB around for how many years now? And yet there are folks saying EB isn't a competent OC?

EB is on field, no? The QB coach, Next Chief’s OC, Is in box.

The weird thing is that EB is in Mahomes Ear on the helmet set. Reid makes the call (possibly with EB recommendations at times) and EB, his literal chubby shadow makes the verbal call on the headset to Mahomes. He has been a part of every single play call, and the fact that he is on the sidelines with Reid is as direct a training program as possible. Todays EB is not yesterdays CU EB OC
