2025 Spring Football

maybe I don't understand this set of posts, so you are saying walk ons never played because they couldn't? that's not at all correct.

I don't have a problem with shedeur and shilo on scholly at CU but I get the original idea maybe the Sanders family would open a couple up. not moralizing, it's up to them.
Back in the day, if you started you had to be on scholarship. The rule was put in because guys would turn down scholarship and get paid. To stop that practice, you had to be on scholarship that came with rule about not receiving money. Plus when you were on scholarship you couldn't have a job. Only in the summer.

MDT. Sorry.
i deserve that john travolta GIF

If they are getting paid it's a job.

They should still have an element of being a student. Even though only a small percentage will actually make the NFL and even fewer will be around long enough to gain generational wealth I would argue that most have some level of belief that they will end up in the league. Getting an education of some sort should be the minimum expectation on the schools.

Reality is now that most regular students do not earn a Bachelor's in 4 years, athletes with the extra load of a varsity sport shouldn't be forced into a 4 year limit.

I would support a flat 5 years of eligibility for all athletes as long as they are making reasonable progress towards a degree. In addition I would grant an automatic 6th year for athletes who have completed a Bachelor's and want to get a start on a graduate degree.

Also if players are going to be "cut" they should be guaranteed support towards completing an education again as long as they are taking care of work in the classroom.

#5737 and 10:28 MT Thursday

We are going to try to move to 215 and get out from underneath the new video board so we can both see it and no longer be impacted by its eclipse effect on the sun in late Oct/Nov for section 212.

1735. What is the consensus on east versus west? Too many blue hairs on west?
I was on East side for many years (118). Due to pandemic, a really ****ty team with what I perceived as having no future, and living in Costa Rica, I gave up my tix for the 2022 season.

When we hired CP, I jumped back in but only tix available were on the West side (104). If there are seats available, I’m going to try to get back to the East side when it’s my turn tomorrow morning.

1. East side gets more afternoon sun, which is nice when it’s cold (and assuming we’re not always playing night games)
2. Too many visitor fans in the NW sections Because it’s close to the designated visitors’ sections, so all those who buy tix with the intention to sell have their seats there to sell to visiting fans.
3. Getting to and out of the NW sections is a PITA. There is only one exit through the field house which gets really bottlenecked. East side has many portals for faster egress.

That said, the “blue hair” reputation is over blown based on my 2 years of experience in 104.
