I think the biggest killer for the offense and Montez yesterday was the number of self-inflicted errors that put them behind schedule and made them one dimensional. With the holding penalty, all the false starts and the couple bad snaps it was really hard for Johnson to call the number of run...
Montez seems like a smart guy.
For whatever reason, it hasn't translated into reacting during a play to get to his best option.
With the starts and reps under his belt, there's probably noting a college defense can throw at him that he hasn't seen. But he just doesn't seem to see it or have...
Realistically, we've gotta roll with Montez and rally behind him. Only reason I posted it this week at half-time was superstition after having to eat crow after doing it last week.
With him, every remaining game is winnable if we get "good Montez" who makes 3 or 4 unbelievable plays while...
I don’t have much nice to say about the defense today outside of it forcing turnovers.
But I will say this: if our offense can’t win games when the defense only gives up 23 in regulation, we won’t win much.
OL was bad today in the run game. Montez was bad Montez.
Well played game by the Zoomies today. Won the line of scrimmage. Very disciplined in avoiding penalties. Dominated the OT and deserved to win.
P.S. This post exists because I wanted to say something nice and I couldn't think of anything for the team I cheer for. I'm not a classy...
I keep thinking of a Terry Bradshaw story from when he was a young QB and was taking a ton of heat from fans, coaches and teammates. He allegedly said to the team, "You can lose with me, but you can't win without me."
That might very well be the situation we are in with Montez.
This defense couldn't figure out its fits, rules and keys for the CSU offense, which is a pretty standard pro style -- though well designed and called by Bobo.
That's the problem all year and I'm not happy with Summers.
I don't have any problem at all with the 3-man front against option...
I don't care about easy. If it was easy, anyone on scholarship could be a good QB at a P5 program. The QB has to make the plays that are available at a high percentage while avoiding big mistakes and showing leadership. Have we sen that today?
It's 10 carries for 34 yards without the kneel down and the 2 sacks. Not anywhere close to good, but the way they keep this stat in college football is not good. Stats should deduct from passing yards.
