CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

For those of us who think CU is very close to being a great team starting like next year, Leavitt was probably best option. He knew the AD, knew which coordinators to keep, knew most of the kids. He would have brought energy and toughness but wouldn't have changed much else - so your right...

CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

Sumlin committed to running same offense and defense when he came on board so they wouldn't miss a beat. I think some of time UofA needed to adjust had to do with the fact that Tate was limited due to ankle injury, but the whole team was off kilter during the first part of the year. I just...

CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

I don't want to be like Sumlin. But his UofA is a good example of how long it takes to get back on track with new staff even when you keep schemes intact. It took UofA about five games of suck before they were where they were last year.

CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

Continuity to me means maintaining defensive and offensive schemes as much as possible. Sumlin did this at UofA last year and it still took half the season.

CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

I fear that Tucker = rebuild. Fear confirmed on offense. Its going to take some time.

Which assistants should CU consider keeping? Your rating.

You know I take that as a complement ...because I don’t see you as anyone who knows anything worth knowing.

    Brown/Drake/Els/Roper/Hagan = 3 Chev/Adams = 2

    RG needs to move quickly.

Dude you called me mentally disabled. I said you wouldn’t call me that if you knew me. I think I’m being pretty gracious.

Believe me I’m laughing my ass off too.

^^this. Nice to see some sound reason.

You wouldn’t call me slingblade if you knew who you were talking to. You said secondary, not front 7...maybe you mis-spoke.

    RG needs to move quickly.

Well you should have loved Jim Mora then. You look at all the perinially top ten teams and they also have great coaches.

    RG needs to move quickly.

JL knows the AD, a lot of the staff(some of which we should try to keep) and a lot of the players. He’d run a 3-4 on defense that would use the same players we have recruited to. I think he would hit the ground running. I love Schiano and that would be a good get. The problem is he runs his own...

    RG needs to move quickly.

JL isn’t the only coach I could see, or even the greatest. I think he is the best fit for a quick turnaround. I want be in the top 20 all next year and go to a good bowl next year. I don’t want to wait three years for a rebuild. I am tired of waiting.

    RG needs to move quickly.

Well I didn’t know secondaries were supposed to pressure the QB. If you are lamenting the absence of the corner blitz, well I’d say that is on Elliot as a coordinator for not calling that.

    RG needs to move quickly.

Don’t like Elliot much, but he has a good defensive staff working for him. Like those guys. I like Chev and don’t blame the offensive line problems on him; he could use another shot. Like Roper. I like many of our players. Like Shenault, like Landman, etc but I’d transfer in their shoes if CU...

    RG needs to move quickly.

Jim Leavit was offered the head coaching job at Alabama - that would qualify the statement that he is considered by those who would know to be a good coach-highly regarded at the P5 level. Out of loyalty, he turned the job down to stay at SFlorida...which was the disaster decision of his career.

    RG needs to move quickly.

The prospects I offer are actually pretty optimistic. If you think we are going to win the NC in the next few years (that is beat teams like Bama, Clemson, Georgia) you are....well...it explains a lot.

    Jim Leavit. Do it now!
