  1. Boston Celtics hire Brad Stevens

Especially in a "player development" year. However, this'll take the Celtics out of the Wiggins sweepstakes as Stevens does the unthinkable and carries the Celtics into a flurry of wins at the end of the season and to the Eastern Conference 8 seed, where they upset the Heat, Nets, and Bulls in...
  2. '14 SF Diontae Jones

Rivals has him at 6'6", and a 247 update just yesterday lists him at 6'5", so that's got to be a typo; the author probably meant 4/3.
  3. 2013 OOC Schedule

  4. 2013 OOC Schedule

Anyone heard of Basketball Travelers? Apparently it's the bulletin board that coaches use for scheduling. Rodney Billups posted the most recent update on 5/6, not that informative for us but the blurb's as follows: Obviously the Nov 8th slot's just been filled by Baylor. Just thought this...
  5. Way too early Pac-12 MBB predictions for 2013-14

Order of finish 1. Arizona 2. Colorado 3. Stanford 4. Oregon 5. Cal 6. UCLA 7. ASU 8. Washington 9. USC 10. Utah 11. OSU 12. WSU Player of the Year: Kaleb Tarczewski Defensive Player of the Year: Josh Huestis Freshman Player of the Year: Aaron Gordon Coach of the Year: Sean Miller...
  6. '14 CA SG Daniel Hamilton (Verbal to UConn)

Committed to UConn, according to Josh Gershon.
  7. Transfer that Boyle is targeting?

It sounds like it's Michael Dixon. Jason King at ESPN has an article on transfer season up today, and it includes the following blurb:
  8. NCAA Tourney Elite 8

Kevin Ware was jumping out onto the perimeter to defend a 3, and his leg just buckled somehow, looked like there was bone sticking out below his knee or something...I looked away pretty fast. It was so bad that pretty much the entire Louisville team broke down in tears. Looked like even Coach K...
  9. NCAA Tourney Elite 8

Oh man. That might be worse than Marcus Lattimore's injury.
  10. NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 - Day Two

Wow...FGCU looks incredible so far. Can you imagine a Louisville-FGCU national championship if both teams continue playing as they have been?
  11. If Tad did leave, what coach would you target?

Out of curiosity, has there ever been a "coach trade" like that?
  12. UCLA Coaching Search?

At the end of the ESPN article, a "source" is mentioned as saying that UCLA's AD has a "fondness" for VCU's Shaka Smart and that he would be their first focus. I still don't think he leaves VCU if this source is correct, but as Buffnik mentioned earlier in the thread, I'd love for him to do so...
  13. UCLA Coaching Search?

I can't see Smart or Stevens leaving their current positions at VCU and Butler...after their respective March Madness successes, they had some plum jobs available that were theirs if they wanted them (most notably Illinois and NC State for Smart; Illinois and Maryland for Stevens), but both...
  14. Selection

Don't know if you guys noticed this, but when Memphis was named, they said the "first" team from the C-USA, implying that Southern Miss might have snuck in. That's potentially one bubble spot gone.
  15. 2012-13 Bubble Watch

Baylor's bubble almost definitely just burst; went down at OSU by two free throws from a blown foul call after coming back from down 20. Would've been a nice little RPI bump for us, too.
  16. 2012-13 Bubble Watch

Whoa. #1 Gonzaga barely hanging on against Loyola Marymount, 27-26, at the half. LMU's already won three in a row in the WCC tournament after going 1-15 in regular season play, with an RPI/BPI well over 200. This is what I love about March. Game's on ESPN3 if anyone's interested.
  17. Lunardi- bracketology

He is by a small (and probably statistically insignificant) margin, according to this. Both are middle of the pack compared to other "expert" bracketologists around the Web, though.
  18. Roster next year

Ran across this college basketball season wrapup by Jason King this morning. If you scroll down to the "Just wait til next year (teams that could improve significantly in 2013-14)" section, he lists Colorado, which is no surprise, but he also mentions this: . Does he know something we don't...
