The book on Simmons seems to be that he's raw at DT, but can easily put 30 or more pounds on his frame. Very explosive and athletically gifted prospect.

So far, he has taken 4 Official Visits:

Rutgers - 9/25
Iowa - 10/22
Oregon - 11/5
Texas Tech - 12/17

All of those visits were taken with teammate Branden Jackson. Jackson is visiting Colorado the weekend of January 28th. No stories have yet linked Simmons to Colorado, but could they end up taking all 5 trips together?

Dude, you seriously sound like you're writing teasers for Rivals. Auditioning?

thanks for all the info...

Update from Scout Jan. 22:

Simmons is down to USC, Oregon, Texas Tech and Pittsburgh and North Carolina. He will announce on signing day.

He eliminated Florida from consideration and will visit USC on Jan. 28.

Has previously visited an eclectic group of schools:
Oregon, Texas Tech, Rutgers and Iowa. USC will be fifth and final visit.

Released from his scholarship at North Carolina, and looking for a home. ESPN reporting that USC may be an early favorite since they still have scholarships to give. Don't know if we even have a shot here, but I'll bet we could find a scholarship for this young man.

how does usc have scholarships to give? didnt they sign a class of thirty when the ncaa might make them lower it to 15?

how does usc have any scholies...

Wouldn't a pulled scholly mean some baggage? If so, don't think Embree would want him.

You are quite possibly right, but then again, we did pretty well with P Rich who definitely had some baggage when he ended up here; so you never know. Apparently Texas Tech is also a player as I think his teammate and former CU recruit Brendan Jackson (?) ended up signing there. Again, not trying to get anybody's hopes up, because this seems longer than a long shot, but he is out there.

afaik, CU never even offered a scholarship to Simmons. Maybe never talked to him. The only reason a profile was created was because he had made every official visit along with Branden Jackson, we'd offered Jackson, and Jackson was scheduled to visit (eventually canceling).

Ended up signing with Texas Tech. I can't help but think that if Branden Jackson hadn't canceled his visit we would have got both of them.
