West Virginia had done a national search to determine who was the best fit for its system to replace Noel Devine. They landed on Selders, made them its #1 target, pulled out all the stops recruiting him... and got the verbal at the end of August.

I like that strategy. Helps a lot if you've got an offensive or defensive identity people are aware of and if the program has had recent success on the national stage.
