I'll work on turning to OP into a profile thread and link it in the pinned CO Preps index.

Thanks, buffaholic.

Is this the kid from Chaparral?

Edit:

Haven't seen him play much but I know that Chap has a good pass D. Wonder what schools will actually offer.

Yes a DB at Chaparral but likely to play both ways senior year.
Profile, highlights and game film:

Good showing at the Dallas Under Armour combine in spite of the cold wet conditions:

Full disclosure: I'm his dad.

Way to go dad! Thanks for the links, your kid has some wheels and a pretty good eye for the ball.
Good luck on his recruiting, be nice to see him in black and gold. Welcome aboard

Welcome Dad. Tough kid, good nose for the ball. I think Oregon will buy those links for $25k! Love to see him in the BNG.

what position does he want to play in college?

Wherever they want him! He is being recruited at CB but has been told that with his speed they want to evaluate him as receiver as well. He was a RB until two years ago and loves it and was very effective but understands it's a long shot with his body type at the D1 level.

Thanks BP. On the Oregon links purchase - inside joke?

Welcome.

And, yes, he's joking about the news story that broke about Oregon putting it on its books that they paid a guy who was essentially a street agent $25k -allegedly- just to get the film on a certain prospect.

He ran a 10.67 100M yesterday and this 21.83 200 M earlier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YGDEpvmvas

Speed's definitely his thing. Rivals article from March 25th:
Currently, McHenry's focus is on his track season, which netted him a 10.8 time in the 100 meters and a 21.99 clocking in the 200 meters at Thunder Ridge. The Chaparral corner said he was Second Team All-Conference a year ago and doesn't mind playing in pass coverage or coming up in run support.

"I am very determined," McHenry said. "I work really hard to accomplish the job and listen to coaches and utilize all they can teach me and deliver to the best of my ability. I love getting in there and making hits as well as picking off a ball and going for a touchdown."

At the Dallas Under Armour Combine, McHenry had one of the fastest 40s, cone drills and 5-10-5 agilities. He also showed off his explosiveness with a 32.5 vertical. http://colorado.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1205801

Kid's an athlete.

I was about to say he looked a little small for a big time corner, but 5-11 is not bad at all. With those wheels and his ability to lay the wood in his tackles, the offers should be rolling in soon.

Definitely smaller in his Jr highlights. Late bloomer . . .

Well thats only going to help his recruiting then, as soon as some senior highlights come out this fall with him looking a few inches taller, I am sure he will be high on people's recruiting boards.

Have to watch him play havent had that priviledge yet. All I know is 10.67 is a pretty damn fast 100m.

Bettered his 200m time this spring (21.68).

Scout's got an update on him: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1068099.html

"I'm talking a lot with Utah, Colorado, Colorado State, and Connecticut," noted Gavin McHenry, who is a wide receiver, cornerback, and kick returner for his high school squad. "I got camp invites from Nebraska and UNLV."

McHenry said he's gone from 5'10, 155 pounds early last season to 6'0, 165 pounds this spring.

There was an update on his summer camp plans, too. CU is among the schools he is visiting and it sounds like he's getting a lot of invites. Looks to me like he's a good bet to sign with a D1 program and 50/50 with a BCS.

Also, if you check out the 200m race video that was posted you'll notice that the guy he beats in the race is Cyler Miles. McHenry has some serious wheels.

Well he posted at 21.21 200M last night in 48 degree weather. I knew he had room to improve but even as his old man I was :wow:

Looks like one heck of a race last night?!
