Redmond was a second-team all league selection as a junior and is also a decent wrestler in the heavyweight division. While he has received little interest to date, that might be about to change after an impressive performance over the weekend at the LA Nike Camp. Greg Biggins thinks we may be the first to step up to the plate with an offer:

Hearing #Colorado could be first to offer Los Alamitos (Calif.) OL Alex Redmond, kid dominated at the NIKE Camp

Los Alamitos is always pretty good and is a good program to build some relationships with, as there are usually 1-2 BCS prospects from there in every recruiting class. Clark Evans went there and Paul Richardson was there before he transferred.

Modnote: Added from lower down:

Here is some of the buzz coming out of this past weekend...

*Los Alamitos (Calif.) OL Alex Redmond- Long time Griffin assistant Barry Sherr called a few moths ago saying he has a lineman who could be one of the best they have ever had. That’s a bold statement but Sherr was right on the money as Redmond looked like the top tackle in attendance. He was the only guy able to slow down DL MVP Joe Mathis and has the size and toughness to be recruited by every school out West.

OL: Alex Redmond, 6-4.5, 290, Los Alamitos (Calif.)
Breakdown: Somewhat of an unknown and still waiting for his first offer, Redmond flashed nice skills on Sunday. Is very disciplined and technically sound with great hands.

Alex Redmond, OT, Los Alamitos – Another lineman with limited recruiting interest to date, Redmond had arguably the best all-around day in the OL/DL one-on-ones. He showed really good feet, confidence in his strength and rarely lost a rep to the defensive line. At 6-4.5, 290 Redmond may end up on the inside long term but he showed a lot of promise on Sunday.

I swear, if I was the recruiting coordinator at a Pac-12 program one of my daily rituals would be to key in on any "sleepers" that Embree and company offered early.
Yup. Based on first offers alone, Embree is really validating the theory that he is an excellent evaluator of talent. Now, we just have to see confirmation on the field this year.

He moves well for a big guy and he definitely looks the part. He is one of the better interior OL I have seen in this class. My guess is he will get at least a half dozen PAC-12 offers before it is all said and done:

Up to five offers after adding Boston College today. Really hope we can land him, think he is still somewhat of a hidden treasure.

“I’m going to do a round trip tour to as many schools as I can get to,” Redmond said. “I’m planning to visit Washington, Washington State, Colorado, Colorado State, Arizona State, Nevada and San Diego State again.

Sounds like he will also be taking some officials in the fall. Hopefully we can make up some ground on Washington. I like him quite a bit as a OG prospect.

Expected, but still sucks. I think he is severely underrated by most of the sites.
