Fisher had a breakout performance at the LA Nike Camp and was named the defensive backs MVP.

Not many people knew the name Denzel Fisher heading into the weekend but he’ll soon be a highly-recruited defender. After being named defensive back MVP on Sunday, Fisher promptly picked up his first offer from San Diego State on Monday. That will be the first of many. Fisher has great size at 6-1 and he has fantastic hips and natural coverage ability.

Fisher didn't enter the camp with a ton of recruiting buzz, but he left with people asking his name. The feisty cover corner won defensive back MVP over a strong field of defenders. During the half-skeleton period, he snagged two interceptions and registered a pass breakup. He was solid throughout the day and the Nike Camp defensive back coaches rewarded him for his effort.

Fisher was the biggest revelation of the day and flashed elite level talent. He’s all of 6-2 with long arms and great ball skills. He picked off three balls during the one on ones and showed the quick feet to change direction and run with smaller receivers and was very comfortable in press as well. He’ll need to add some weight but he has the frame to do so and no one increased their stock more than Fisher on Sunday.

Take the time and watch the highlights. Fisher is a twig and will need to bulk up, but he looks like a high level DB to me.

That is some pretty impressive film. Kinda reminds me of a young and skinny Jimmy Smith. Very good length combined with good quickness.

Still has just one offer. Hope we jump in the race during the evaluation period.

Sounds like he did well at UCLA's elite camp. Still under the radar, which surprises me.

Another elite camp, another strong showing. Really hope we make Fisher a priority soon.

Any idea why we wouldn't have offered by now? Are grades an issue?
