Some great highlights! The first play, he Carey's a defender, then two, for forty YAC. Then on defense tips a ball high, turns and gets under it, then stretches to make the sideline grab.

What's the competition level?

I take that back. Weakside Defensive End is probably what it means in terms of a specific position in this scenario. I sometimes refer to a DE playing in a 9 technique or "wide nine" as a Wide Defensive End
Exactly right. Great guys to have running down plays from the backside.

My ignorance exposed here...but WTF is a WDE?

We made a small adjustment to how we're classifying recruits now in the recruiting forum.

Since CU plays a 3-4 base and the positions as usually listed are more fitting for a 4-3 defense, we wanted it to be a bit more meaningful.

So, when you see "SDE" it is strongside defensive end. That's like what Samson Kafovalu played in our defense. Yeah, he's got to set the edge and get a pass rush, but he's a big guy who can handle a double team and is almost a DT.

And when you see "WDE" it is a weakside defensive end. That's the Jimmie Gilbert type who is a pass rusher most plays but is technically an OLB on the Buff depth chart since he will sometimes drop into coverage or line up a bit behind the line of scrimmage while almost always being in a 2 pt stance.

We felt that if we continued to classify both those types of players simply as "DE" like we did for the 2017 class it wasn't giving all the info that was useful and available.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Nik. Awesome as always. IDK if a glossary somewhere would help...just a thought.

Looks like Werner is focusing on a programme that places European kids on HS or college teams now that he's retired from the NFL due to persistent knee issues.

Also he measured in at 6'3"/223 at the Nike Camp in LA, so it appears the size is legit.

Will be interesting to see how he does in camps, and next season.

"#BuildTheDam?" Damn. Who the hell was responsible for choosing mascot names in Oregon. It's unnatural that the ducks are any good in athletics at all, and OSU is right about where it belongs.
