After the five newcomers brought in last offseason, it's going to be hard to match the talent level this time around. And we won't. But with three scholarships open, expect the new guy we hire to hit the Jucos for 1-2 of those. There are also plenty of high school seniors that have Division I prospects but don't get an offer that suits them in terms of the program offering or geographically and head to a Juco because of it. I look to us getting one of those lesser recruited guys, maybe even a local guy out of high school. Not someone who would start as a freshman for any team in the Big 12 or other major conference but someone to fill out a roster for depth reasons. A guy like Levi Knutson who can play good defense and eat a few minutes when we need to rest a guy. Wish we could pick and choose, but we have to accept we're not Kansas or even Mizzou when it comes to competing in this conference.
McClain has been the lead recruiter on a lot of guys. Him staying is the key.
It happens, but its not exactly ideal. We will have to hit the juco ranks for the next few years to 1.) get talent that can contributre right away, and 2.) get our class balance back in order.
