And imagine what he could have done if we had an offensive line that actually gave his QB time to let his routes develop.

I cringed at times because of some of the hits he was taking as teams came up and attacked him on the shorter routes. You can't ignore him on those shorter routes because he kills you if he gets the ball with space to work with but image what he could do drawing defenses up then turning the route past them on a regular basis.

Then when Texas ran a play action pass on the 2 point conversion Georgia looked like they were seeing something for the first time. They were 100% thinking it would be another QB run.
 
Adam has a new podcast all about the lines. Idk much about that stuff but man did that group have issues. I’m expecting a big improvement on the OL and a much more efficient O on our way to 8 wins! Woot!!!
 
Top three in PAC at QB and a legit Heisman contender going into next season. Then a bunch of question marks. Line? How do we refill at LB? Legit RB? Players that at least in the eyes of the Utah media have quit at the end of the last two seasons? I want Tucker to come in and make this happen, but it's going to take work from players and staff. Bowl game or bust next season. Yesterday a local DJ rated us 12th in the Pac for next season. Man it makes me angry when they bust on CU.

Legit Biletnikoff award contender, not Heisman that's a QB/RB award. As for LB, the best linebacker potentially in the PAC for next year is coming back, Gamboa was a liability and Lewis never lived up to the potential. Landman, Wells, JVD, Ham, Jash Allen, Davion Taylor, should be as good as the group that we had this year.

Agree. ILB looks fairly deep and a clear strength, but OLB/pass rusher is a question mark and depth isn't great. DL looks to be a strength with the top 4-5 guys. Secondary is a big question mark.

Backup QB, RB, OL, secondary, and special teams all have some issues. Some should get sorted out fairly quickly, but some will not.

What ST issues do you see, outside of too many scholarships dedicated to specialists? Stefanou at PK seems about has good as we've had around here since Crosby and Kinney coming back is one of the better Punters in the Pac 12. Obvious question marks around scholarships being used on Davis Price and Sam Loy, but I imagine they'll be honored? Outside of that, I don't see ST has being much of an issue.

I could be reaching here. But I think we could see 3+ starters as freshman due to the issues. Mangham, Dixon, Perry, Trujillo.

Ham and Rodman as well and I can’t see Jashua Allen not being on the field obviously.

OL will still be an issue most likely, hopefully we have ‘some’ depth now and can at least look adequate.

I think things will be fine there, but they do have to figure out the specialists issue quickly. Also, will be interesting to see how Kinney comes back from the injury.

Agree on most.

Rodman is a likely redshirt IMO. And if Huffman-Dixon is starting, we have major issues at WR.

I could see the red-shirt with Rodman. I based it off his listed size, if were hurting, well at least he is physically capable of playing. Dixon I more meant in the rotation, I think he’s that good.

Agree on Ham, Allen, Mangham, Perry and maybe Trujillo. As Duff said, Rodman and Dixon should be RS all the way, IMO.

I believe Arias and Brown should be the primary outside WRs, Viska is all over the field, KD and JJ should mostly be slot types with Stanley kind of a utility guy. That's a rotation of 6 guys in an offense that will probably be in a base 3 WR set. Bell and Dylan Thomas are the depth guys.

Fair enough. We’ll just redshirt him and go get Ford and have our WR1 and WR2 for 2020 when Shenault goes to the league.

I’ve really forgotten about all the WR’s we have. I’m interested in what Stanley will do. He only had a handful of catches last year if I remember, like 10? Maybe. Any idea what size he is now?

Roster has him listed at 5'11" 170 lbs. I'd imagine he will put on another 10-15 lbs this offseason. He should be a contributor, but I just don't think we're going to see as many 4/5 WR sets as we've become accustomed to. I wonder if his biggest impact will be in the return game?

I don't see OLB/pass rusher being a question mark at all. I see Wells making a solid leap considering how well he played with more PT near the end of the year as well as Taylor making a huge jump in fundamentals since he's still new to the game. Those two with Callier, Tchangam, and Falo as rotational guys and potentially moving Jash Allen (I haven't watched enough of his tape to know if he could make the move) to Outside says pretty darn solid at OLB as well.

Yeah that’s what I saw too. 247 has him at 6’0” 178 so I imagine Colorado’s numbers are more accurate. But that was last year, he’s had to have grown and put on some size high school. At 6’0” you’d think closer to 190-200 would be a better playing weight but he may just be a smaller guy

We'll see. I just think we have a lot of tweeners due to years of poor recruiting and emphasis on the Buff Backer. Taylor and Wells are likely to play the position, but I don't think they're ideal there. Callier has more of the size you'd want to see, but isn't a complete player. Tchangam is OK, nothing special and Falo is 3rd string. Jashua Allen is an ILB to me, and trying to move him outside at ~6' 215-220 lbs probably isn't ideal. I don't know, we'll see.

LOL. His guest did mention Drew Wilson was not happy with the development of the OL...makes me think Adams had something to do with that. Plus he talked about how Haigler regressed the last 2 seasons under Adams. I don't know what Adams was doing, but I think with a really good OL coach like we have now, there will be a big improvement in 2019.

If he makes the jump into the top 3 in the conference, I think we can expect great things next year.

He's top 3 in the conference almost guaranteed, at least to start the year. Just listing the QB's that either started last year or are projected to start puts him in the top 3 pretty much by default.
Stanford: KJ Costello - Imo 2nd best QB in the conference
Oregon: Justin Herbert - Obvious top QB in the conference
Oregon State: Conor Blount (most likely) - not even remotely close to a top 3 QB
Washington: Jacob Eason - did ok his Frosh year at Georgia but nothing that to me says top 3 quarterback. I'd maybe project him at 4 or 5
Wazzu: Anthony Gordon (no idea, just based on this years depth chart) - Unproven/unknown, statistically will probably be top 3 due to Leach offense, doubt he's true top 3
Cal: Chase Garbers - We all saw that offense, not a top 3 QB.

Colorado: Montez - my pick for 3rd QB in league
Utah: Huntley - dual threat guy, can throw but nothing stand out about him as a passer. #4 or 5 to me, interchangeable with Eason at this point.
UCLA: Thompson-Robinson - Athlete playing QB, not a 2017 Khalil Tate type player either, solid but not top 3.
USC: JT Daniels - the king of playing real life 500 with his receivers in games is not a top 3 QB by any means
Arizona: Khalil Tate - when he's not playing the Buffs, he's nothing special and he's probably going to be gone by next year any way.
Arizona State: Jayden Daniels or Joey Yellen - neither one is Trevor Lawrence special, not top 3.

If anything I'd move him to 4th but that's as low as he goes. PAC12 not a strong QB league next year.

Let's hope so. It's just that I figured he would have been in the upper third last year, so color me skeptical until he does it. Very excited about the new (and by new I mean actual) offense next year.

Yeah like 2017 too. QB sneak, over thrown pass, run up the middle, punt. Next possession: run and 1st down, run and 1st down, run and 1st down, run and 1st down followed by QB sneak, over thrown pass, over thrown pass and a punt. 2018 had no QB sneak just short pass and run up the middle. We had 2 plays.

FWIW, Well is pretty perfect size for OLB at 6'4" 250 ish. Callier hopefully puts about 10 lbs back on because he was probably playing a little under 230 last season.
