CU is in a pretty similar situation, tbh. New coach that nobody is overly enthusiastic about, lots of anticipation for game one, playing a beatable opponent, not quite sure what to expect. Hopefully we don't feel their pain in 8 days.
Lost to Fresno 38-17
CSU HC Addazio started dual threat and Temple transfer QB Todd Centeio over last years starter Patrick O’Brien, himself a transfer from Nebraska.
O’Brien is a statue in the pocket and missed some time in camp because of Covid, so they went with Centeio, who unfortunately is cut from the Bernard Jackson mold. That is, he complements his rather mediocre running ability with a complete inability to pass the football.
Oh, and their defense stinks too, which we all knew.

Had and early 10-7 lead then Fresno just beat the crap out of them scoring 31 straight. They got a late TD in garbage time after they put last years starter in but the game was a thorough butt kicking from a team that wasn't expected to be very good this year.
Dude brought a transfer QB with him to run his version of the RPO but the guy isn't a very good passer. He did end up as their leading rusher (didn't get a combined 75 yards from the RBs) but he couldn't pass well enough to keep drives going.
What a dude.

If anyone wants to go see a game in a shiny new stadium there are going to be plenty of good seats available.
